    Fortnite Now Requires Gold?


    The game Fortnite was free to play over the weekend. Now it is telling me I need to have an xbox live gold membership to play. Does this occur frequently to free games? If so then I would not consider this a "free" game once you have to pay to play.

    fortnite says I don't have live

    try going on fortnite and it says requires live gold and my account is all ready linked

    Hi!

    A subscription to Xbox Live Gold is required to play games online, so you will require an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play Fortnite.

    It happens that in the weekend some games are free (as happened also to R6 or TESO). After the period will be necessary to buy the title or wait for other free sessions.

    Gold is required to play online. Since Fortnite is an online only game, it requires Gold. They are working on changing that for Fortnite and other games, but currently it still requires Gold.

    Xbox Live Gold subscription is not just required for free-to-play games such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, Warzone 2.0 etc.
