Fortnite - Linking a Epic account to a different xbox account.

I have 2 boys that play Fortnite and am having the following issue.

My younger son always played Fortnite on the PC platform and played with his older brother who is on the Xbox platform. My younger son just received an Xbox One for his birthday and when he tried to link his Xbox account to his Epic account he gets the error
"This Epic account was previously linked to a different external account. it can only be relinked to the old external account and not a new one". My older son then informed me that when he was trying to "help" his younger brother he tied his account to his
younger brother's account by accident but then removed it.

How can I link my younger son's Epic Account to his new Xbox account so he can play with all of his items and progress he made on the PC version on his Xbox?

Just to clarify is the issue that you have two Epic (Fortnite) accounts that are linked to two different Outlook e-mail addresses, and the epic account that is currently linked to your Xbox is the incorrect one?

Thanks for reaching out to us! When it comes to linking your Xbox Account (GamerTag) to your Fortnite account (Epic Games account), each GamerTag/profile can only link to one Fortnite account. If you are able to sign into Fortnite on your device with your
son's Xbox account and his Epic account and view his progress then that is normal. However, if you'd like to sign into your Xbox account on Fortnite, it would need to correspond with the Epic games account associated with your GamerTag.

If your own GamerTag (Xbox profile) is not linking up with your Epic Games account, then you would need to

contact Epic Games concerning your Fortnite account directly for assistance in getting those two accounts to link. Just be sure you know the different account log in emails for their site specific to each of you.

Update: I just logged into my Older son's epic account as him and his account is linked properly to his xbox account. my younger son's account is still giving the error message I stated earlier.
