Fortnite cross platform play

I have a Microsoft account for my son which he uses to play fortnite on our Xbox one s. He is not able to play cross platform and having been in touch with Epic games he is still not able to play cross-platform.

We have done everything Epic suggested including connecting his Xbox account to epic games and making his profile public. So, Microsoft, what do we need to do to enable cross platform play?

Fortnite Cross platform

When I go to play Fortnite cross platform on Xbox it brings up an error message that I cannot join the cross platform party. When I go into settings in Fortnite to change the option to allow cross platform parties, it does not appear. I am able to play
cross platform parties when on a computer. From what I have seen on the internet, the Xbox account has to be an adult account, but I cannot figure out how to promote a child account to an adult account.

Because of this issue with cross platform playing on Fortnite in a child’s account, is there a workaround?

Can we use the adult account and sign into Fortnite using the childs details so we can play with the saved game play up to now? That way we can play cross platform on adult’s account?

Chris here from Xbox forums support. I understand at this time, cross platform play is disabled for child accounts on Xbox live.

Im not sure if this is by design. It seems like this is only affecting child accounts on xbox, so it could be subject to change.

The child account would have to graduate naturally to an adult account in order to cross play on Fortnite. A secondary adult account could be used to cross play if you would like, A second gold subscription would not be needed. Please refer to "How
to designate an Xbox One console as your home Xbox" for steps on sharing the gold subscription with the rest of the console

I have the same issue. I have 2 child accounts; one works; one doesn't! It doesn't look like an age related issue. Its also not disabled for child accounts. Issue is with Epic, but they will not accept that and just fob everyone off back to xbox.

 

Have you played cross play with PS4 at all by any chance?

 

I would follow Chris's advice on this and set the console as the home xbox and give permission for the account to be used UNLESS fortnite is forbidding it like he said.

Thanks for the info... I'l go back to Epic games again and see what they see. I guess I'll be going round in circles for ever with this one but creating an adult account for my son to play just defeats the whole object of the MS family accounts!

Sorry for the inconvenience. Gaming
on a computer or PC has different advantages than a gaming console and all child accounts have been set up with maximum security to protect our younger customers while they game online.



All Microsoft accounts that are adult accounts should be eligible for cross play. The only accounts that have restrictions
are the Microsoft child accounts. This is not a bug, Microsoft intentionally set up this barrier for many reasons and plan on releasing a solution to change that option soon.
We do not have an estimated time frame on this issue at the moment.
As soon as we find out more information; we will update everyone on the forums about this issue.Keep
an eye out for our response as we are diligently working on allowing parent accounts to manage cross platform play in the parental settings.

I have tried numerous phone calls to turn my child account into an adult account. I followed every procedure and spoke to customer support via telephone, and no matter what we try, I still can't enable cross-platform play on Xbox for Fortnite. I uploaded
the age verification request form, changed my birth-date and name for the Xbox live account, and still, nothing has changed.

 

Thats crazy I hope you get a fix soon!!

MS have accepted this is a problem and are working on it but keep registering noise people

 

I too have this issue, please find a solution as soon as possible
