Not really fair comparing a brand new console to a seasoned console, but some of those complaints are valid and MS is working on updates to address them. A friend of mine got a PS4 and I was floored when he said the battery life of the controller was 7-8
hours, I'm perfectly happy with changing the batteries once or twice a week instead of charging everyday or every other day.

The worst thing is that tests have shown that the battery life could be almost doubled just by disabling that stupid blue light on the
front, but Sony have said they aren't going to do that, I guess listening to your customers is a Microsoft thing, and Sony don't want to be seen copying
but Sony have said they aren't going to do that
Apparently it wasn't originally on the front of the controller, it was somewhere the player could see it without a mirror. The Transistor folks mentioned that when I asked if
they'd be able to modulate the lights on other PC controllers the way Transistor modulates the PS4 controller light.

Kinda pointless not to allow it to be turned off now that we can't see it most of the time...

PS3 – UI was easy, icons represented specific categories, such as video, games, store, settings, etc. Analogous to a file cabinet with each drawer labeled for a certain item. Xbox One, on the other hand, is like a desk where someone just tossed around a
bunch of their stuff in the hopes that they would remember where they put it later. I am not a huge fan of windows 8 tiles to begin with, but the execution of this near identical system on the One is lacking. How to fix it is unknown to me, but that is what
you folks at Microsoft make the big bucks. I will say that the UI just simply does not feel intuitive. rying to figure out where the system “app” was took me a few moments (sorry, but I don’t think of everything as an “app,” so I did not look in games and
apps, first). Tiles make sense on a touch device, which this is not.
Use your pins (that way you just press LB to get to all the stuff you need quickly) or use voice control instead of trying to navigate with the control pad. It's what the system was designed around using. There are various help guides on the dashboard to help
you learn how to use the system. Use them! Former PS3 Owner Thoughts on Xbox One :)

Your face is how it identifies you. If it can't identify you, you can sign in manually.
I'd
also like to add to this little tidbit that if your Kinect's camera can't recognize who you are, you can sign in using voice commands rather than using manual sign-in (which I recommend using as a last resort). All you have to do is say, "Xbox, sign in as
<insert real life 1st name on account here>." For example, my real name is Keith, so I say, "Xbox, sign in as Keith" & it works flawlessly. I haven't had it mess up once.

6. I'm a PS3 owner who pre ordered and purchased and X1. I'm quite happy with the X1. The UI is a little bit different and it takes a while to get to used too; but that's okay.

I had my worries about Kinect but I still use it. The camera on the Kinect points at my bookshelf and there's nothing interesting there lol.

7. Hi Shaggy. My thoughts, as I think I posted a bit above in another reply, were to have a replaceable recharge battery. Essentially, exactly what I just had to buy from a 3rd party, over and above what I already paid for the system. Also, I bought the Xbox
used (shocked I found that at gamestop, to be honest) so it did not have a set of batteries with the system.

@Icestorm III - Thanks for the tips, obviously there are some tricks I'm still learning. However, I believe my point about the camera is still valid. I don't want my xbox to have to identify me at all, I would rather just have it turn on and be signed into
my account automatically, plain and simple. The way I understand it, without kinect, I would have to hit a few buttons to sign in before I could use my profile. Seems like a minor issue that could be easily fixed with an update. I have a google phone, and
at first it was really cool that I could unlock it with my face. Then it become really annoying because sometimes it would get me and sometimes (like after a haircut or a shave) it would not. Eventually, I just disabled it as it took longer to get it to unlock
compared to just sliding my finger across.

As for comparing a cell phone to the kinect, sorry but that is apples to oranges. The phone on my camera is either in my pocket, where is getting a nice view of my pocket lint, or on a table facing the ceiling or ground. It is not aimed directly at my living
room at all times. Its a personal preference, I get that some people really could care less and great for them, but I don't like the idea.

Finally, batteries are kind of expensive, I don't want to be buying them every other week, so I bought the aftermarket rechargeables. My point is that after buying the console, the 1 year to xbox live and a game, you would think microsoft would take pity
on my wallet and let me recharge the controller. Your argument that every seven hours I would have to plug in the PS4 controller is kind of funny to me, since I think after seven hours my eyes would be jelly anyway. I never had an issue with the PS3 and only
had to tether is I was a dummy and left the controller of the charger for a few days.

9. @zero divided - why isn't it fair to compare a brand new console to last gen? I would like to think that both companies looked at what they and their competition were doing and would improve on it. If the next gen isn't better than the last gen, why would
a consumer put out money when their current product is the supeiror of the two? And honestly, everyone getting on about the 7 hour battery life...that is a long time to be straight gaming. My hat off to you but I never had a battery issue with the PS3, although
I'd like to see a removable, changable, chargeable battery.

10. Can't say i'm too surprised if you not used your PS3 for a long time then you are greeted with system updates the same would go with any console on the market. I read today that Dead Rising 3 is going need a 3 gig update. So the same goes for the One too,
enjoy your 3 gig update.

11. The new breed of consoles are not better then the last gen, in fact are they are inferior as it stands at the moment. Ps4 Blu Ray player is nor up to scratch with the PS3 and the X Box One comes with a rather buggy interface. A lot of the selling points
about it are even missing from uk release. Both machines was rushed out to meet the holidays deadlines. In time i would hope to think things will improve considerably. But at the moment can't think of one reason why any one would want to upgrade. High
prices, limited games available and running not much different from last generation. There's no reason to upgrade! unless the pressures of society forces it upon you.

@HandsomeBison, i just feel that when dealing with a overhaul of the software, it is not fair to hold the new software to that same level of functionality, and the fact that MS had to do some major re-coding due to the 180's (willing to bet that removing
DRM and Kinect requirements was more than un-checking a settings box). and with the X1 the app integration is much deeper than the 360 with voice commands and hand gestures, and then integrated into the One Guide(or whatever it's called). at end of the day
i feel that expecting all of the functionality the 360 had, and more, out of the gate is a unrealistic expectation. but that's me.

---

and to each their own, as far as the battery opinion, when i got my X1 on launch, i was very happy that i used that batteries that came in the box and they lasted several days and the first few days i was gaming for 10-12 hours a day. but again that is me,
i like being able to change out the batteries on the fly, and getting several days out of a single charge.

I ended up using my PS3 today, first time in two months. Dead battery so plugged in controller with cable that doesn't reach the sofa. Played Cod, Last of Us. Man what an experience, slow stupid updates taking ages, can't find players for games, there's
a reason I love my Xbox One!!!! So fast and responsive.

Also, are you really playing for 7 hours straight?? I never had a problem, I just stuck the PS3 in the charger when I was done and it was fresh and ready to go every time I picked it up.
