    Formatting 360 HD

I want to format my 360 250GB slims HDD. The only thing I want to backup are my game saves. I know that when installing a game to a thumb drive it formats it and looks at read/write speeds..and it's somewhat picky. Given that all I want to do is copy some
save files I assume it won't care what I usb as long as it's USB 1.0?

Secondly, aside from a flash drive, does xbox live have any sort of backup service? I'm guessing all save files in all it's still probably well under 50mb.

Any content you have downloaded is attached to your account and the licenses are tied to your account and console, not the hard drive. So you can redownload everything from your download history. You would only have to do a license transfer if you were switching
    consoles.

The only thing you can't redownload would be game saves. So you would want those backed up if possible.
