Forgive the basic question, but I need a little insight...

I'm currently in Act II of Normal, but some reason I haven't quite grasped what I need to be doing with the blacksmith.

1. Am I supposed to basically salvage EVERYTHING I find (minus what I'm currently using) to the blacksmith? I'm worried that I'm going to do that and regret it later for some reason.

2. Is the blacksmith basically where I need to be spending all my money as well? Seems like if I dump everything into the blacksmith, all the merchants are basically useless.

Thanks for any clarification you can give me. I just didn't want to dump everything into the blacksmith without checking with you guys first.

Lei 10 minutes and some basic use really isn't enough time to deliver an informed verdict on the Kinect and its functions in my humble opinion but your still forgiven for the typos!

 

A Few Basic Questions

A correction, I think. The beta allowed 16 character slots but the official forum has said that it will be only 8 as it is in the PC on launch.

 

Here is a basic breakdown of what the Blacksmith can do.



Since you are still on Normal mode, I'd save my money to upgrade your
Stash Chest. The Smith has useful things he can create, but you can find better things by exploring/defeating Bosses. And the merchants very rarely have things which are better in the loot drops.



Besides, you can't really upgrade him that well until you start Nightmare mode; this is when the game starts dropping Blacksmith Pages and Plans for better gear.



As for Salvaging, unless you decide to create other classes for items you find in your game, just cannibalise
everything. Selling them to merchants is useless since the value is only a few golds.



Keep in mind, the salvage items you get depend on the rarity of the gear - the higher value, the better the salvage. Later on in the game, you will need to start salvaging Legendary items to create the best gear in the game!

Thanks for the info; I was just about to start scouring for it.

 

Play the game long enough and you'll find yourself swapping back and forth between salvaging everything you can (my first run) and selling everything you can (my second run). By "run", I mean going normal through inferno with one character. After that alternate
mostly between needing money and needing components for the smith... Though now that I have pretty much all of the crafting challenges completed and more stuff than I need (except the demon essence needed to crafter marquis stones) it will probably be money,
money, money from here on out.
