Forced update midgame

From your description, I understand that you find that your Xbox console is always forced to automatically update when playing online games. I understand your confusion about this problem.



Make sure your Xbox console is set to "Download updates only when idle".

This option can be found in the settings:

Open Settings > System > Update,

Make sure you have checked "Keep my console up to date". After turning on this option, the Xbox console will automatically update any available console updates when it is turned off.



Please set the power supply to power saving mode, do not unplug the console, and the console system update will be silently updated when the console is turned off.

Did you follow each of the steps on the guide Mister Mascot linked? It's important to try each and every step detailed on that page.

I would like to note at step 6 it will ask you to clear your local storage, which will not remove your cloud saves. As long as you regularly play while connected to Xbox Live, your saves will be stored in the cloud.

Thanks Mister Mascot. If my console does this again I'll go back through the troubleshooting process. Recently factory reset again, and waiting to see if the problem persists.
