Was playing Overwatch and got a forced update mid competative game. This caused me to get kicked from the game, penalized, and my team to lose. Why isn't there a way to postpone, get an early warning, or wait until the game is over?!

:)

[Mod Removed] XBL, lost me hrs of game progress with your circle logic

[Mod Removed] lost me hrs of game progress because I can't save my game unless I connect to xbox live, I can't connect ot xbox live with out it trying to force an update, like a screwed up circle that lost me hrs of play time.

-

I should be able to log into xbox live in game, and be able to save before any forced update. more so when im at the save menu, why would you force an update mid game... [Mod Removed]

Xbox One Mandatory Updates Can Be Disabled to Avoid Mid-Game Restarts

Xbox One Mandatory Updates Can Be Disabled to Avoid Mid-Game RestartsWritten Tuesday, November 19, 2013 By Lee BradleyView author's profile

The Xbox One will occasionally need to update and reboot while you’re playing a game, Microsoft has confirmed. But users can turn the feature off.A Microsoft representative has clarified that while automatic updates can throw you out of a game mid-session, this will be “timed to have the least possible impact” and can be disabled. We contacted Microsoft earlier in the week, following an instance during a session with Dead Rising 3, in which our progress was automatically saved and we were forced to update and restart.“Multiplayer games need to ensure that all players are working from the same versions of the game, and on the most current version of the system,” explained a Microsoft rep.“If an update is deployed during a game, it will require a quick update after which players can resume playing.“Users have the option of setting their system to automatically take updates so they are always up to date, or manually taking an update which may increase the disruption to their gameplay. Referring to systems in use before the console’s launch on November 22nd, the rep said, “Note that updates are taking place more frequently right now because the system is still in beta. “After launch, updates will not take place as often, and will be timed to have the least possible impact on users.”It should be noted that we’ve had an Xbox One for over a week now and we’ve been playing it for a minimum of 18 hours a day. We’ve only had to update mid-session once.

4. Forced update mid game!!?

Hi,

The type of update you experienced was a Mandatory update where you are forced to do the update at that time. I know this won't help from before, but going forward you can set your Xbox automatically update each night using the instructions here ( Learn About Xbox Updates on Xbox One | System Updates
) or listed below:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select Settings > All settings.
3. Select System > Updates.
4. Under Console, select Keep my console up to date if it isn’t already.

After that is done make sure your Xbox is set to Instant-On mode so that it can search for updates while off here ( Energy-saving Mode | Instant-On Mode | Xbox One Power Modes ):

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select Settings > All settings.
3. Select Power & startup > Power mode & startup. Select Power mode to change the setting.

Hope this works out for you.

Set your console to instant on mode. Updates will usually happen when you're not using the console and you'll never notice them.

Xbox force updating mid game

Hi there!

If you are seeing multiple updates like this we would assume you are part of the Insider Preview program possibly in the Alpha or Beta ring.

If this is the case, then frequent updates are a part of being in that program.

The Insider program is there to let you test beta programs for the console and provide feedback to the team that is working on the OS.

This program is not designed for casual use of the console.

If you do not enjoy the experience of the program and do not want to partake in the testing that it involves we recommend removing the app from your console and

Factory resetting.

This will remove you from the program and allow you to go back to the standard scheduled updated process that casual gamers take part in.

Alternately if you do want to continue to be part of the debug and testing process you could set one console as your test console and then leave a second console as your standard gaming console.

We understand that may not be plausible for all Gamers but there is no way to avoid the update process in the program as it is part of the stress testing process.

We do hope this sheds a little light on the program and what is expected when being a part of it.

We also encourage you to post in the
Insider forums
with any feedback you have for the program so that their team can take it into consideration!

NFL SUNDAY TICKET APP

Im signed in fine. But is anyone having issues with it freezing after like a min every time. And then the app becomes mad slow! I force close it. Reopen etc. Then it freezes mid game or mid video playback or mid redzone channel... over and over again. And
its not my internet. Trust me.

Updates with the Xbox insider program

I've experienced this before. It maybe that your console failed to update while it was not in use and forced it through mid game as a last resort. I 'overused' my xbox (didnt shut it off for a few days) when it happened to me. It can happen but it actively
tries to aviod doing so
