Yeah, I've restarted and rebooted and power cycled until I'm blue in the face. I was hoping to avoid the system restore, but if that's the way it has to be then I'll go for it. My biggest concern is my son's Minecraft worlds — he's afraid he'll lose them
in a "reset and keep my games & apps". Any idea if that will happen?

    Anyway, thank you for responding.

Game saves are uploaded to the cloud automatically when your connected to Xbox LIVE. You should have no issues getting the save back after factory resetting your console. Some frequently asked questions about the cloud can be found here:

WARNING! As I'm writing this response Xbox LIVE is having some issues with Social & Gaming being limited (In-game matchmaking, cloud storage, finding friends, Game DVR, leaderboards, avatar editing, or pictures). Either hold off with factory resetting
until fully operational and the game save is for sure on the cloud or risk the cloud not having an up to date game save. Xbox LIVE status here: support.xbox.com/.../xbox-live-status

    Hey there Chief Dreadwood.

It sounds like your console may be receiving Preview Updates. If you have another Xbox Live account on your Xbox One that is part of the Preview Update, this would explain why you're receiving updates. Can you share which OS your Xbox One is currently running?

I do not have this console enrolled in the preview program. I get the 'it's time to update' and either download this 423 me update or go offline message about ever two days. It started a week ago. It interrupts my Ark Sirvival evolved server which I am running
and annoys a ton of folks. How don't get get Xbox fixed without doing a system console factory reset, which would delete my ark saved serve data (it can't save to Xbox live).

There has been 7 updates in 7 days.

Anyway, the preview forums are here forums.xbox.com/.../default.aspx

which is where you all need to post.

I'm in the same boat. Literally every time I get on I have to download an update, and it's 423 MB every time. I've heard that the updates have become more frequent for preview members but this is just ridiculous and I know something is wrong. Just today
I had to download this "update" TWICE while being on for a span of 2 hours. There was no power-off in between them, it downloaded once when I logged in and again when I tried to access the settings.

    Hey Knightro98,

If you aren't part of the preview program than something is definitely wrong.

    Can you try:

    1. Restarting your console.
    1. Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.
    2. Note Double-tapping the Xbox button will open the guide from any other screen on the console.
    3. Select Settings.
    4. Select Restart console.
    5. Select Yes to confirm.
    • If that doesn't work, power cycling your console.
      1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.
    • If that doesn't work, disconnecting and reconnecting your power cable
    1. Turn off the Xbox One console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.
    2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds. Important Be sure to wait 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.
    3. Plug the console power cable back in.
    4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox One.
    • If that doesn't work, resetting your console to factory defaults. (Warning Resetting your console to its factory defaults erases all accounts, saved games, settings, and home Xbox associations. Anything not synchronized with Xbox Live will be lost.
Your console syncs with Xbox Live automatically when it’s connected with the service, so if you've been offline for a while, you'll need to connect to Xbox Live before taking these steps.)
    1. Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select All Settings.
    4. Select System.
    5. Select Console info & updates.
    6. Select Reset console.
    7. On the Reset your console screen, you'll see three options:
    1. Reset and remove everything. This option resets the console to factory settings. All user data, including accounts, saved games, settings, home Xbox associations, and all games and apps will be deleted. You should use this option when selling or
gifting the console to someone else. You should only use this option as a last resort in some troubleshooting cases.
    2. Reset and keep my games & apps. You should use this option as your primary choice when troubleshooting. It will reset the OS and delete all potentially corrupted data without deleting your games or apps. This will save you from downloading or reinstalling
the large game files. In some cases, if a corrupt game file is causing the issue you're troubleshooting.
    3. Cancel. To back out of this screen, simply select the Cancel button. No action has been taken at this point. This is a safe exit from this screen.
    • You may have to choose Reset and remove everything, but you should always start with
Reset and keep my games & apps and save Reset and remove everything as a last resort.
