Forced to turn console on with the controller

You might need to perform a hard reset on the console, and clear the system cache. Also perform a hard reset on the controller (for extra troubleshooting).

If that doesn't work, and it needs to be replaced, your console should be under warranty. The Xbox One was released in November, and they all have a 1 year warranty.

Are you getting this as a recurring problem or do you mean that you turned your controller on while the force feedback wheel was assigned to 1?

If you simply mean you turned your controller on while the force feedback wheel was also on the only way to get the controller back to player 1 is to turn off your console, no wires need to be removed. Once a controller has been assigned a player number,
it keeps it until the console is powered off.

figured it out. Xbox series X wont turn off your controller or respond to the controller once its on a off state if your console is in ENERGY SAVER mode. In order to be able to turn your xbox on with the controller you must be in STANDBY mode. Thats a stupid move by Microsoft to force you to keep wasting power in order to turn on you console with the controller.

I was playing Battlefield 3. The console was sitting flat in an open, well ventilated area, free of any obstructions.

Then, suddenly, I was not playing Battlefield 3 anymore. The screen froze, the controller rumbled continuously, and I was forced to press the power button on the front of the console to turn it off. When I attempted to turn the console back on, the aforementioned
problem began.

When you turn your console on, there should be a black box icon in the top right with the control showing a message saying "new features" or something like that.

Click on that, and there will be an option there to check for an update. When you click this, there will be two options.

Update control

and

Update Console.

Just click console and it will force update it. I did it last night. Hope this helps.
