    Forced to hard reboot daily

Hello there! I'm a big Xbox supporter and I've been on the Xbox team since the "Xbox prime" launched in 2001. That certainly doesn't mean I can't be lost as a customer, but please understand that I am a longtime supporter.

For the past 6 months, I've been experiencing the issue with Xbox One where the home screen locks up and my device becomes unresponsive, forcing me to hard reboot even several times a day on some occasions. This problem has recurred since October
(I purchased originally in May 2014). Some weeks it's better than others, but it can be a major inconvenience at times. I don't accept switching to "Power saver mode" as a solution, because it sacrifices too much functionality. I bought the device with in
mind that I'd be able to download games/updates automatically overnight, resume games from standby, and so forth. "Instant on" was one of the key features that Microsoft capitalized on with this device, and simply not using it is not a solution to this problem.

Before suggesting a solution, please note that I have thoroughly tried the following suggestions:

*Holding down the power button for 5 seconds to hard reboot the console. (This works as a short temporary fix only)

*Checking to make sure that the console is plugged directly into a wall, not a power strip.

*Powering down, unplugging, leaving every possible cord disconnected for 15 minutes, and then restarting.

*Removing my Xbox live profile from the console, powering down, rebooting and signing back in.

    *Clearing the Blu-Ray Cache.

*Calling Xbox support (they simply suggest the above)

*Taking advantage of the warranty.... Yes, I literally exchanged the Xbox for another (refurbished) unit a few weeks ago, and it has the EXACT same problem. Also, this rules out factory resetting as a solution.

This is by no means my first attempt to find help with this issue. I've taken part in various threads on this forum over the past 6 months in attempt to find a solution.
I have no desire to gripe or argue, I just would like for this issue to finally be taken seriously.

Any support would be very much appreciated. I will be glad to patiently answer any and all questions that may help to resolve this issue. Thank you in advance for your time!

    :)

    New Dashboard issues (preview member)

both triggers +y to refresh your dash. Log out of your account sign in to another account the hard reboot. Once u reboot log into your regular account. This should force the Xbox to refresh the Xbox live data that has become stale. If it does not report the bug to the Xbox team.

I've had the same problem since November, got nowhere posting here or from support. Three weeks ago I got into the preview program and since the last two preview builds the issue appears to be fixed.

I've gone from a hard reset at least once a day, often more, to now having been two weeks without having to. So presumably whatever they've done will be in the April update.

You're absolutely right though, switching to Power Save is not a fix. I think the way MS have handled this whole issue, which affects a hell of a lot of people if you check the numerous threads on here, basically completely ignoring it and refusing to even
acknowledge the problem exists, is nothing short of disgraceful.

Make sure if you have a game like GTA still running on the screen while on standby to turn it off the game because some games can cause it to crash.

Put your Console in "Energy Savings" Mode. Instant On is completely broken and that's what causes the lock-ups.

I got an Xbox One Thursday evening. Had the same issues you have with the lock-ups, and bought it back for a refund Friday morning.

The WiFi speeds on this console are too terrible (8mbps on a 100mbps connection) to have anything that doesn't have a functioning Rest Mode, and the FW is too buggy - it feels like I was paying almost $400 to ALPHA test their Xbox OS...

I'll likely go back to the PS4 (which I returned for the Xbox One, because it has pretty crap download/upload speeds as well, but its OS performed like a champ and at least I could switch games without having to hard reset my console and it's WiFi speeds
were still over 2x that of the Xbox One :-( ).

As the OP says, putting it on Energy Saving is a workaround, not a fix. Instant On is great when it works.

Seems to be fixed for me now, hopefully the fix will be included in the April update.

    This is absolute doggy doo.

Can't even sell a fully-functional product over one year later.

Switching modes, plugging/unplugging, freezing, stalling, unresponsive, never turning on/off. Who tested this console before they decided to put it on the market? Unacceptable. This shouldn't be happening if my Wii-U never does this. I should never have
    to hard reset every day.

  9. Hi there. Also a very big fan of the Xbox One, especially with the voice commands of Kinect when it works. My favourite thing to do is still to show off the voice prompts and "Xbox On" to all my mates when they come past. Therefore turning to Power Saving
mode is a big loss for me.

Bearing that in mind even doing that doesn't solve my problems noted above, especially in game on Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Exo Zombies (on a COD Xbox One) where on menus and in game videos simply freeze. Hard resets have stopped fixing this issue as
well so its really starting to get to me especially with the new Ascendance dlc busy downloading as we speak...

I appreciate the help from everybody. The fact that preview program members are seeing big improvements is a good sign. As Goooner points out, this probably means that an upcoming update will help to resolve the issue.

I'd like to add that I was told specifically by Xbox support staff that they could not help me on this forum unless I started my own thread to report my specific issue. With that said, I'm disappointed that no one from the support staff has responded yet.

You can see if you follow the link below that they locked our collective thread, telling us to make individual ones-

    forums.xbox.com/.../1906555.aspx

^That thread actually piled up to ~6 pages, and they didn't reply until they locked it. Their reply is pinned to the top of each page, so it's a bit confusing. No solution...

I hate to be negative, because I have nothing to gain from it, but they're sort of confirming my suspicion that it was sort of just an excuse to close the thread, effectively sweeping a blatant issue under the rug. If we can't collectively report it and
pile up our complaints, they don't see it as a legitimate problem. Of course, I understand that the support forum dwellers are not necessarily the same folks working to fix this. So maybe there's nothing they can do. I just hope then that this is being
relayed somehow. Again, I don't want to attack the support team or file any sort of grievance, I just want to be heard.

To their credit though, members of the preview program consistently say that they're working to fix this exact issue, so hopefully they'll pull through.

I'd still appreciate a reply from someone official. I will continue to check in weekly.
