Forced to change my gamer tag

Hi all, I recently went to play on my Xbox and when I went onto a game a realised my gamer tag has changed. I contacted micrsoft support, to be told that my account name had been changed due to a number of complaints.

When I went to change my gamer tag to

“WILLSY BUI 32” my Xbox asked me to pay £7.99

I could understand if I was the one to change my gamer tag in the first place, but this was not the case and now I’m left with a name I didn’t choose

Forced To Change My Gamer Tag?

once a game tag has had the forced name change it cannot be changed back. FYI your game tag MUST be rated E for everyone so it cannot have any profane words or even sound like profane words. you are just gonna have to live with your new game tag. another
note, if you get another FNC (forced name change) too many FNC will result in a perm ban from LIVE and any and all downloaded content (DLC) and remaining LIVE and MS points will be null and void.

The problem is that it was the enforcement team that changed your gamertag due to complaints that it was a violation of the code of conduct. and with it being an enforcement action (forced gamer tag change) through the enforcement team there would be a charge
to change it to a gamer tag of your choice.

You can try and appeal the gamertag change by signing into your account at enforcement.xbox.com and filing a case review

The enforcement team does not monitor these forums. they only handle things through their website.

I'm going to assume that what is going on is that you were issued a forced gamer tag change since the gamer tag may be deemed offensive. A forced gamer tag change can result in not being able to post on the forums until that gamer tag is changed.

the free gamer tag change was only allowed when your gamer tag change was forced. People abused this by reporting gamer tags that people wanted to change so once a force change was made they then changed it again to what they wanted for free. Because
of that abuse of the system all game tag changes now cost even if a force change has happened.

Arguing with Owen isn't doing anything to get your gamertag back. He (and I) are just regular users here. I guess the only difference is that we understand how the Spanish word for "black" could be seen as offensive to some people.

I'd just rock that WittyPup gamertag like a boss.
