    Forced Shutdown


    So I've been playing Red Dead Redemption One on my Xbox One X. Every time I get to a certain cut scene in the mission The Great Mexican Train Robbery, Xbox shuts down completely.

    After restarting it tells me it shut down due to ventilation. My system is in a very open space. Glass TV stand, no enclosment.

    I went ahead and removed the covers to check out the blower and heat sink. Wasn't really any dust or hair I could see causing a blockage.

    Blew it out with a datavac anyways. Re assembled the system and booted my game. Get to the same cut scene on the same mission and it shuts off immediately. It's really weird that it keeps happening at the same spot three times in a row.

    Is my xbox breaking? Is there any hope? Will I ever see the end of John Marston's story!?

    Well I did what you said and I was able to move pass that mission. Hopefully it will not occur again but it looks like that did the trick! Thanks for the reply!

    I'm Samy an independent advisor. Welcome to the Xbox community. How are you?

    Does this only happen with this game? Did you try any troubleshooting?

    Try to delete the ''reserved space'' click the menu button on the game icon and go to manage game and add-ons>saved data and delete the ''reserved space''. Then clean the MAC from the console and try again.

    Clean your console's MAC

    Network Settings> Advanced Settings> Alternate MAC address and Clear.

    Put simply, a Force Shutdown. It's a common hardware option especially on PC's when the OS or system stops responding, you are left with a Force Shutdown, a fail safe option when the OS/system doesn't respond which involves pressing a button for a few seconds.
    But others will tell you "you know that (force shutdown) is not good for your machine, right?".

    I understand that's how you FORCE a full shutdown.

    What I'm trying to resolve is why "Turn off console" doesn't result in a full shutdown, as it previously did.

    I know it's a bit of a clichéd response for a Microsoft product, but have you tried turning it off an turning it on again? and by this I mean pressing the power button on the console for > 5 seconds to force a complete shutdown.

    Audio problems are typically caused by issues with the sensor and so forcing a shutdown and restarting usually clear the problem.
