Forced gamertag change.

I have spoken to one of your online support agents this afternoon in regards to a forced gamertag change. He/she has requested that i contact you about it as i feel harrassed

Hi, forced gamertag changes are only imposed under certain circumstances. Having your personal info, name etc isn't recommended but also isn't against the terms of use or code of conduct.

to whom it may concern,

ive had the same gamertag D0 M3 H4RD3R for a solid four years, and today when i go to sign on its telling me to change my gamertag. I play all my games on the hardest difficultly possible gow 1, 2, and 3 insane mow2 blackops and mow3 (was working on) veteran
and all of the halo saga legendary. why after four and a half faithful years to xboxlive are they making me change my gamertag? i cannot believe that im being told to change my gamertag after nearly five years i was 16 when i created this account im 21 now
how come just now someone thinks this is suggestive, the only thing that my gamertag suggests to me is a way of thinking give me everything you have play hard and ill play harder, ill give you 110% and i exspect the same so D0 M3 H4RD3R to take my gamertag
out of context just shows how immature some people are... ive been told that my gamertag has a double meaning and proably offended someone, it offends me that someone would even think i created this gamertag for such a reason, and to force someone to change
their gamertag bc of double meanings is ridiculous, if thats the case why not make evryone who has a gamertag with a 6 and a 9 consecutivly change their gamertag thats suggestive isn't it? where is the line drawn why did someone decide to draw it in front
of my gamertag more importantly why if it is so sugestive did it take nearly five years for someone to say something? ive grownup with this gamertag it is special to me that may sound stupid, but u try going half a decade with the same name then have someone
tell u to change it bc it offends someone who doesnt even know you... i want to know who i can talk too to resovle this issue, this means alot to me...

If you're being harrassed you need to file a complaint and block communications on those people. Support typically sends people here with incorrect information. There is no way to get a free gamertag change. You will need to pay if you want to change it.
Forced name changes are only given by the enforcement team if your tag has been found to violate the code of conduct. Even then you are given a randomly generated tag and must pay to have one of your own choosing.

 

No appeal for XBLEnforcement either. They are infallible.

 

I'm facing a similar situation; I've started my own thread about it. My gamertag was automatically changed because my real first name was added to the list of offensive terms.

What really bother me is that exceptions have been made to the need to pay the fee in past cases:

I used my gamertag completely without incident; the automatic change did not occur because of user complaints, but rather because of my name being added to the banned terms list. My user account records show that the term in question is my real first name;
there's no problem about the financial end of the system using the term in question to send charges to the institutions with which I do my banking.

Customer service has told me there is no way to have the fee waived. I spoke on the phone to a customer service floor manager, who told me that the only course of action available to is to send a physical letter to Microsoft headquarters. I was given the
address to use (1 Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA).

XBLEnforcement responded to my inquiry to confirm why my gamertag was changed, but does not respond to my inquiries concerning a waiver of the gamertag change fee.

 

Anything to do with billing (ie. fees, etc) must be taken up via phone support. No one else will be able to assist you.

 

I did speak with phone support. The floor manager of the call support center is the one who told me that my only possibility for assistance is to send a letter to Microsfot headquarters.

 

Last night my husband and my son were playing xbox live when some people started messing with them. They started blocking them from doing anything in the game. When my husband waited them out to leave the game after they left they messaged mt husband and
said good luck with the 24 hour hold and have fun paying another $10 for your gamertag. THen all of a sudden my husbands gamer tag was changed . I don't undrstand how some punk kids (i have to ssume they are kids by how they acted) could have this type of
control.. How do I file a formal complaint against these peope (i have their gamertags) and how does my husband get his gamertag back?

Gamertags are only forcibily change when the name violates the terms of use

Rhe previpus name would be banned

You can file a complaint via the msg that was sent by the offending people
