Forced Gamertag Change

I was sent here by Xbox Live Support

I am requesting a free Gamertag change.

My original Gamertag was '[Mod Removed]'

I have had this Gamertag for over 4 years with no problems, i even spoke to several people from Customer Service several years ago and they had no issues with this Gamertag.

I am requesting a free Gamertag change, as i've had a few before this particular one and it gave me a notification saying that i could change it for free, but now it's telling me I have to pay.

I was also told i would get contacted by a Moderator for this particular issue, and I was told that i would be guaranteed a free Gamertag change as it was a forced change.

Hi, forced gamertag changes are only imposed under certain circumstances. Having your personal info, name etc isn't recommended but also isn't against the terms of use or code of conduct.

to whom it may concern,

ive had the same gamertag D0 M3 H4RD3R for a solid four years, and today when i go to sign on its telling me to change my gamertag. I play all my games on the hardest difficultly possible gow 1, 2, and 3 insane mow2 blackops and mow3 (was working on) veteran
and all of the halo saga legendary. why after four and a half faithful years to xboxlive are they making me change my gamertag? i cannot believe that im being told to change my gamertag after nearly five years i was 16 when i created this account im 21 now
how come just now someone thinks this is suggestive, the only thing that my gamertag suggests to me is a way of thinking give me everything you have play hard and ill play harder, ill give you 110% and i exspect the same so D0 M3 H4RD3R to take my gamertag
out of context just shows how immature some people are... ive been told that my gamertag has a double meaning and proably offended someone, it offends me that someone would even think i created this gamertag for such a reason, and to force someone to change
their gamertag bc of double meanings is ridiculous, if thats the case why not make evryone who has a gamertag with a 6 and a 9 consecutivly change their gamertag thats suggestive isn't it? where is the line drawn why did someone decide to draw it in front
of my gamertag more importantly why if it is so sugestive did it take nearly five years for someone to say something? ive grownup with this gamertag it is special to me that may sound stupid, but u try going half a decade with the same name then have someone
tell u to change it bc it offends someone who doesnt even know you... i want to know who i can talk too to resovle this issue, this means alot to me...

When you receive a forced gamer tag change it is due to you have violated the Terms of Use and the Code of conduct. This is an Enforcement Team action and will not be changed. I am sorry that Customer Service told you to come here but that is incorrect.
The Enforcement Team changed it due to a complaint being filed against your tag. You will not get it back as forced changes are final. You will not get a free tag change as that is no longer policy. You will need to pay $9.99 to change your tag, not multiple
Forced Name Changed can lead to a ban.

 

Violated after 4 years of using the same Gamertag? How is it that for the last 4 years i wasn't violating the Code Of Conduct but now i am? Something doesn't seem right. As i said i spoke to several customer service advisers and they said it was fine.

Never mind violating the Code Of Conduct, i feel violated.

Now i have to pay to change it from this awful forced one? This feels a little unfair.

 

You may have had it for 4 years but it took someone reporting it to bring it to Enforcements attention.

Once reported then you have little recourse. They at one time allowed a free forced name change but it mainly let the Gamer create yet another name that violated the TOU and/orTOU which tied up Enforcement even deeper in complaints. If you know/knew you
are creating a Gamertag or content that violates then it should not be Microsofts position to allow you to get a free name change. The TOC/TOU is pretty clear what you cannot do.

Also Enforcement never reads this forum. They are the only department who can change your name.

 

Unfortunately, you will not be given a free gamertag change. When your issued a Forced Name Change, you're given a random name since it was found to be in violation. If you'd like to choose a new one, the fee is required. Sorry.

 

Well i spoke to 3 customer service advisers yesterday to clear up what you guys who've replied have said (thanks for your input by the way) and they said i should wait to see what the Enforcement Team say, which is all good i guess, but if you're saying
they don't even read it then what's the whole point of them sending you here?

Also as i said, i had an issue with billing a few years back, and they said i wasn't breaking the Code of Conduct with the said gamertag, but now for some reason i am.

Can anyone tell me what's changed since then?

If i don't get a reply within 48 hours then i guess i'll give up hope, but I feel like I've had my leg pulled here.

 

You have to remember that if you are calling billing support you are most likely talking to someone that only speaks English as a second language If I remember correctly

Yes I called billing and I can tell by the accent

And doesn't know the latest curse words nor see words that look like violations of the terms of use

Since the moderators already censored the name and they are actually based out of the US

Maybe you should look closer to the rules it does not matter if you had it for years

The naming rules have not changed and have been consistent

Customer support does not make final calls on enforcement action and only the pet team makes that call

You may only use the suspension forums to inquire about the reason not appeal

And since the moderators already censored the name it most likely violated the rules of Xbox live and it's an obvious one

 

Maybe you should have your parents read the rules for you and explain it if you don't see what wrong with it

Since I don't see the name due to the obvious violation I cant explain it to you

Multiple violations of the naming rules will only earn you a perm ban of your account

Instead of trying to be funny with your name try being mature and remember the name has to be rated E for everyone

If the moderators censored the name out then it's a clear violation of the terms of use as the rules for forums is actually the same as Xbox live and they usually will do it if it's obvious violations not something that have to be explained

Since Live support does not handle things like this, they do typically give incorrect information. It doesn't matter if support told you the name was okay, it is up to the enforcement team to determine whether or not it violated the code of conduct. As someone
said earlier, it make have just taken a while before someone filed a complaint on you and the enforcement team actually saw the name.

The name change policy is also per the code of conduct which you agreed to.

 

Alright well I got it sorted now, thanks for the input guys.

 

See following the rules isn't that hard

See how painless it is rather then trying to break the validate something that is obvious

And doesn't cost you a thing as long as you follow the rules don't forget to mark this as answered

To avoid future issues follow the rules

Since each time you get a forced name change costs you 10bucks and multiple violations will only lead to a ban

 

this has to be the stupod *** *** ever heard *** *** xbox doesnt ban these little *** that go around hacking or modding but the wanna ban you for having fun with your gamertag. seriously

 

People caught modding etc. are banned every day.

You will definately be getting a forced name change very soon as well.
