forced console updates

why is it we always have to update to some new version of a stupid home system? I think this new update to the home screen both makes simple processes slower and more complicated, why not give us options to not update to these more confusing and anger inducing
updates... I mean you give us a home button on controller to use to go to home screen and new update makes it a multiple push process. **** I like the way my system was before and hate this new crap...

Dashboard showing Free account - But upgraded to Gold

it forced your console to redownload the update

(testing xbox live connection will do this also and faster)

I am sick of Xbox one taking me offline to do updates!

I had the above set already, using he console and it still forced me to do the update.

Sorry to hear you're upset. An update for the console sits in the queue for 48 hours before forcing the update. It would be best to keep an eye on majornelson.com for info on future updates or set your console to instant on so updates are done while you're
not online.

You didn't answer his question at all. I agree with sgtCerealKiller. Why is there a home button if it doesn't take you home? Why would you make it like the 360? Way to **** up a perfectly good thing. The new home screen is dumb.

Have you tried to reset the console and then do the offline system update before the update is forced on the console?

Please try and force the console to carry out a software update please see below for details if this does not work carry out a hard reset on the console and try again.

Can I force my console to update before the update switches to mandatory?

Yes. Once an update has been set as available, you can force your console to start immediately. There are two ways to perform this action, based on whether your console is online or offline.

Online consoles. To force an update to a console while the release is in an available state, follow these steps:

1. Scroll left from Home to open the guide.

2. Select Settings.

3. Select All Settings.

4. Under System, select Console info & updates.

Available updates will show in the second button down in the first column.

If an update is available, the button will read Update Available. If your console is already on the current release build, the button will be greyed out and will read No update available.

Are you part of the Xbox Insider Preview program?

There is a feature that if the console is set to instant on and keep updated, then it should negate forced updates. It is also advisable to check when turning on the console for updates.
