    When you hold down the guide button, Does the option to turn off the console appear? Mine stopped doing it and so I got a replacement and so its also not doing it.

    For those with the universal media remote

    Yes, my media remote does bring up the option to turn off the console when the Power On/Home (big Xbox symbol) button is pressed and held.

    And just to rule it out as a factor, I am not participating in the dashboard preview program.

    Mine stopped doing it in the past 2 days. Did you ever get yours to work again? I have to use the kinect to turn it off or turn on a controller to do it. I am going to try changing the batteries, buy i think they are OK.
