For some reason Xbox app won't install properly

It appears that you are experiencing issue on installing the Xbox app in your device. Let us help you get to the bottom of this.

The error could be caused by corrupted Microsoft store or outdated Windows application in your device. Let us perform some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue.

1. Make sure Windows is up to date.

• Press the Start button on the taskbar, type settings, and then select Settings.
  
• On Windows 10, select Update & Security. On Windows 11, select Windows Update.
  
• On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates to see if any updates are available
  

including optional updates for your device.

• Once the updates have downloaded, select Install now to start the installation.
  
• Following installation, we recommend that you restart your device so that the latest updates can take effect.
  

2. Reset Microsoft Store.

• Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
  
• Type "wsreset.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
  
• Wait for the Command Prompt window to close and the Microsoft Store to open.
  
• Try downloading and installing the Xbox app again.
  

If that doesn't work, you can also try resetting the Windows Update components. Here are the steps:



1. Press the Windows key + X and select "Command Prompt (Admin)".

2. Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each one:

- net stop wuauserv

- net stop cryptSvc

- net stop bits

- net stop msiserver

3. Type "ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old" (without the quotes) and press Enter.

4. Type "ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old" (without the quotes) and press Enter.

5. Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each one:

- net start wuauserv

- net start cryptSvc

- net start bits

- net start msiserver

6. Close the Command Prompt window and try downloading and installing the Xbox app again.

Thank you for the reply. Sorry for not answering for some reason It won't let me post. I've tried all the methods you listed, it shows up on the website and when I click to download it, same thing happens. The Xbox app won't let me install it cause its already installed. I've checked apps, forza isn't installed. Not sure what else I could try

I would try to uninstall and re-install it, it could be that for some reason it hasn't fully installed properly. I hope that works.

Okay it won't give me a uninstall option for youtube for some reason. .on other games and apps I press menu button and it pops up..on YouTube app it keeps saying ready to install I press install it doesn't do anything..I would hate to restore factory settings
