  1. For a 4k tv, What is the Xbox one consoles capabilities?

With black Friday approaching and the normal deals on TVs coming out soon I've been thinking about upgrading my TV. I use my xbox one for everything gaming, cable, Netflix, and a blu ray player. My question is will the xbox play in 4k with games, movies,
and maybe stuff from the store, etc? I know my cable box company only supports 1080p so its irrelevant. if it doesn't support 4k via games and etc I might just upgrade a surround sound for it. any thoughts/advise on the subject I would appreciate

    :)

    4K issue with my TV

    Hello,

    I have a problem with 4K settings for a TV : TCL U49S7606DS.

After setting TV connection in autodiscover mode, in TV 4K details my TV is compliant with 4K UHD 60 Hz at least for video game green tick (red one for HDR).

But in game (Assassin's Creed Origins) images are blurred. I guess the problem is due to the image refreshing because in the product specification for the TV,

the max HDMI resolution is 2160P/30Hz and on the xbox website (https://support.xbox.com/fr-FR/xbox-one/console/4k-on-xbox-one-technical-requirements) required
    configurations are : 4K at 60 Hz

My question : how the console knows if the TV is 4K compliant ? because according to the xbox i should be able to play in 4K !

    Thanks for answerring me.

    Thomas

Xbox One X won't play 4K from Sky Q through input and output HDMI Connection

The HDMI IN on the XBOX ONE / ONE S / ONE X are all just 1080P there is no 4K pass through on those consoles.

The Xbox One S Supports 4K Bluray and 4K screen resolution - not 4K gaming

The Xbox One X Supports 4K Gaming, 4K Bluray and 4K screen resolution

    - Game developer has to make the game 4K

    - 4K pass-through is a hardware feature that does not exist within the console. You'd be better

off running your 4k Sky Q into the TV directly. (the xbox is doing what it's designed to do)

I don't think it supports 4k just yet. Maybe with a future update it will. The highest it goes to is 1080p right now. I believe some games display resolution at 900 p while others can be up-scaled to 1080p. Halo MCC and Forza 5 are the only games right now
that do full 1080p resolution that I know of. I could be wrong though.

  5. The XBox One does not support 4k gaming meaning there are no 4k games made for the XBox One. Early comment were recorded from Microsoft execs suggesting that the system "can" support this but we have yet to see such performance. Perhaps its 1080p up-scaled
    to 4k in some cases....

This is suggested that its not a hardware limitation BUT.... for games, developers have only supported up to 1080p/60FPS based on the developers game.

4k output may be supported for BlueRay

If you're buying a tv mainly for gaming, spend it on a very nice 1080p TV (my opinion)

if your iching to get some 4k buy an av receiver im using a pioneer vsx 924 which uses HDMI 2.0 this lets you upscale everything to 4k 60hz and does alot better job then the tvs built in upscaling

turn on UHD colour setting on the tv plug xbox into amp and amp into tv and your away you maybe only upscaling but theres is a noticeable difference when using the amp i was very impressed maybe is worth looking into if you want a small glimps of what xbox
    one 4k could be like

4k with a "Graphics Amplifier"! Lol.

Don't you have to have a tv or monitor capable of 4k? What good is a console capable of 4k if your tv is only 1080?

TV is capable of 4k 60hz same time but in display setting only showing 4k no hz

Error when selecting the 4K UHD resolution on Xbox One X and Xbox One S

You receive the following error message when you choose 4K UHD in display settings:

    That didn't work

4K is supported by your TV, but not at 60Hz. You won't be able to upscale to 4K, but, depending on your TV, you may still be able to play some 4K and HDR content. To see what your TV supports, choose 4K TV details.

This error occurs when the console detects that your TV supports 4K, but doesn't support a 60 Hz refresh rate. You may still be able to play 4K content at other refresh rates, but you won't be able to upscale the system, games, and apps to 4K.

    Solution

To determine what your TV is telling the console about its 4K capabilities, see

Checking your TV's 4K and HDR capabilities on Xbox One X and Xbox One S
. Use the 4K TV details screen to see what changes as you try different things:

    • Make sure your HDMI cable is plugged into the correct port on your TV. Some 4K TVs only support their full set of 4K features on specific HDMI ports. See your TV manual to determine if there are special 4K HDMI ports, or try different ports on your TV.
    • Check your TV's settings menu. Your TV might have a special mode that controls your TV's refresh rates. See your TV manual to determine if you need to change your TV's settings.
    • Make sure you're using the HDMI cable that was included with the Xbox One X and Xbox One S.
    • Try a different HDMI cable. Your cables must be HDMI High Speed or HDMI Premium certified.
    • Plug your TV straight into your console with the HDMI cable that was included with the Xbox One X and Xbox One S. Some AV receivers or other video equipment may not correctly pass the signal to your TV or console. Also, you'll need to use HDMI High Speed
or HDMI Premium certified cables between both the console and receiver, and the receiver and TV.
Unfortunately, some TVs don't support 4K at 60Hz. See your TV manual to make sure.

    I agree with Phoenix_Reins

The Xbox one and above can work with any TV that has HDMI input.

To View content that is 4K enabled in 4K such as videos and games you do need to have a 4K capable TV.

You can sill plate the 4K content and 4K enabled games on a non 4K TV it will just not be at 4K bu still look incredibly good based on your TV capabilities.
