Following an XBL Gamertag link to send a message, can't send a message.

Hello all,

I play Destiny on the Xbox one and I frequent a website called destinylfg.net. On this page you meet up with people and join in games together. To do this we click the XBL link beside their gamertag and it opens up at the following address: https://account.xbox.com/en-US/Messages?gamerTag=UsersGamertagHere
.

What this usually does is open into your account and starts a new message with the recipient's name being the gamertag that was selected. The problem I have is this no longer seems to work (the other few million that use that website have no problems). When
it navigates to the messages page, it signs me into the account fine, on the messages page, the link looks fine, but there is no new message pop-up. The page is not always intractable until I refresh the page, and there is still no pop-up. I have tried this
with Safari, Internet Explorer and Chrome all with the same result, which leads me to think it is something not right with my account. I have signed out and in, deleted history and cookies, allowed pop-ups, flash and ads and still no luck.

I changed my own gamertag last week, but I think (not 100% sure) this was happening before then too, but only within a 1-2 week period.

Anyone have any ideas how to resolve this annoying issue?

OK, so I can't send an Xbox message to any of my friends on Xbox. I tried all the solutions that the website just. And it still wont work, what do I do?

 

Sorry to hear it. However this sounds like an issue with the site itself. You should contact the web developer there and let them know what's been happening. They should be able to fix it for you from that end.

 

Thanks for the reply, I already have done so, and they say everyone else is working fine and the see no reason from their side what would cause this issue. I tend to believe them too as all I am doing is following a link that hasn't changed in months.It
does seem to be from the Xbox-account side, or me personally somehow.

 

I don't think there's an issue with your account or the website. You should try clearing the cache for your browsers and then check again.

Beyond that, the only other thing I can think of is there is an error somewhere in the link that is disallowing the use of the page correctly.

The link you provided is working perfectly - except, it will only work if the gamertag is valid, otherwise it will redirect to the most relevant gamertag, or, if none, present an error.

 

The problem is now resolved. It fixed itself in an odd way, instead of clicking the link I selected "Copy address" from the link, pasted it into the bar and now it works fine. Very odd problem, but now resolved.

Clearing cache and cookies didn't help, the link from clicking and copying was exactly the same, it didn't appear to be from the source website, I had tried a couple of others too. Not a clue, but happy it is now working
