FO-NV perks bug help required please

hi all.

i'm stuck at an early level, having decided to revisit this game with a fresh HDD so no previous saves. I just finished a quest that upgraded me to Level 6. So the game goes into the skill points menu and i allocate points accordingly. then it goes to the
perks and says i have 1 perk point to allocate, here's where the bug occurs.

While it says i have one point i can't allocate it as the x to do this is faded out. I've been through the whole list nothing makes it highlight to use. then of course i have to go back to the skill points because back or reset are the only options. I've
tried numerous times but it's stuck in this loop. I've also tried loading from an older save point and paying to this point again with no luck.

Anyone have this problem and know of a solution?

Fixed.

 

Weird. It's been years since I played this. There was no problem like this when I originally played. I'll start a new game on a spare 360 and see if the same thing happens to me at level 6, in case it's a new bug that snuck in with some of the recent updates
or changes. Will let you know in a while.

 

Upon promotion to level 2 and time to select my perk, I noticed that the X was faded out as you had said. I selected my perk using the green A button. This caused the X to activate, which allowed me to select "done." Does this solve your problem? Fun game,
maybe I'll continue to level 6 anyway.

 

No problem at level 6. Select perk with green A button. This activates the blue X "done" button which you then select. Great game, now I can't stop!
