    Flight Simulator does not run on brand-new ASUS with Windows 10


    I bought ASUS ROG Strix G15 (2021) Gaming Laptop (AMD Ryzen R9, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070, 15GB ram, 1TB disk, Windows 10),

    to play MS flight simulator.

    The following link verified that this laptop can run flight simulator:

    After seemingly good install, flight sim gave a dark window; on the side, there is a small popup with message:

    "Please make sure your hardware is supported by this application. Please refer to the ReadMe file. (OneCorePlatformService_Z)"

    The ReadMe file is nowhere found. Also, I noticed the install of app downloaded only 1-2 GB, instead of the 160GB recommended.

    Could some expert kindly help? I bought this expensive laptop mainly because of flight sim!

    PS: I called ASUS; they told to ask app vendor: Microsoft, which has no live representative on call now.

    In this thread one of the community members known as Darshak_ELT writes the following:

    "I had the same issue and just solved it tonight. It comes from windows pro N missing media features.

    You can download them from this Microsoft page:

    I tried to download them one by one from the likes but it did not work for me, HOWEVER, following the instructions below to add the feature directly from within windows 10 worked.

    The Media Feature Pack for N versions of Windows 10 is available for download as an Optional Feature. To install the Media Feature Pack, navigate to Settings > Apps > Apps and Features > Optional Features > Add a Feature and find the Media Feature Pack in the list of available Optional Features. Note, you will not be prompted to restart your computer, but you must restart in order to successfully complete the installation of the Media Feature Pack."

    You only downloaded the launcher, you need to start the game, and it will update there.

    Many “gaming” laptops have a secondary, basic video card for basic computing use like web browsing. Forza had an issue where it was seeing the active one and refusing to launch because the big GPU hasn’t engaged yet

    Double check on FS in the NVIDIA control panel that it’s set to use the 3070

    Flight simulator stuck on download loop 23 parts still to download

    asus z390mainboard

    processor i7 9600 processor

    32 gb ddr4 3200 ram

    2xevo 970 mvme ssd 1tb

    running windows 10 22h2

    os build 19045 .2193

    i have today formatted both hard drives and done a fresh install of windows 10 the version above

    compleated all updates and reinstalled the flight simulator

    still gets stuck in exactly the same place

    i have no idea how to sort this now

    Flight Simulator 2020 does not work!

    I am able to load Flight Simulator and it will start up, run a screen or two and then stop. The machine I am running it on is:

    Asus VivoBook 14" FHD Thin and Light Laptop, AMD Ryzen 5 3500U Processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD Storage, Windows 10 (Google Classroom Compatible)

    Shouldn't this be sufficient? I have run "Windows update" and as far as I can tell, the Windows version is right.

    Any suggestions? I don't seem to be able to reach anyone at MIcrosoft to deal with the (frustrating) issue.

    I think if Microsoft says it will be able to run the new Microsoft Flight Simulator on the Xbox One S they'll make sure it does.
