    My computer is about 7 -8 years old and I am considering a new one. I'd like to get flight sim 2020 and actually downloaded it but was not able to run it o my current desktop due to the graphics card limitations and (probably other out dated items). I was told that this machine could not handle new upgrades due to its age and model.

    My question is: do I need a gaming computer for Flight Simulator or would a normal home desktop do the job. I ask because of the price difference and also that I don't do much gaming, just enjoy the flying . Advice please. And any suggested brands and requirements would be appreciated.

    Flight Simulator X isn't. That is an old game. However Microsoft Flight Simulator is.

    you would need at least the min specs here

    you could pick up (hopefully) a cheap used gaming pc with those specs, but if you want top notch graphics for the game and high framerates then you need to lean more to the ideal spec.

    a pc is a pc, any pc can be a gaming pc with the right GPU.

    What kind of graphics you are expecting out of the game. I`ve heard that microsoft flight simulator works on medium graphics settings on a rtx 2080 so i think it would be best to invest into a gaming pc. What also can be help to chose the right pc is the requirements that Microsoft gives us:

    I used to love playing the old flight simulators on my grandfathers computer as a kid. Was great fun. Would definately be keen on giving one a crack on the xbox.
