Flight Sim 2020 new install stuck on update screen

I have a custom built PC: Asus Rog strix Z690-A motherboard

Intel core I-7 1270K

Gigabyte 3080 Ti graphics card

Corsair 32 GB ram

Windows 11

I have recently purchased the premium version of MSFS 2020 from Microsoft's website and downloaded it. Once I hit the play game feature in the game app, it immediately goes to update. There are three update screens. Once it gets to the third update screen, my cursor disappears, the blue progress strip at the bottom runs to complete and then nothing happens.

I've tried to uninstall the game and reinstall it (6 hours out of my life-3 per install). I've updated windows and all of my drivers. I've moved the community folder although nothing was in it, ran the game as administrator, whitelisted the game, scanned and repaired game files but nothing works.

My computer is wired via ethernet cable and the pc is downloading at about 90+ mbps. Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you so much Bruce. I’ve been stuck on this exact problem for over a month and have done multiple reinstalls as well. I would never have thought of unplugging the Ethernet cable, as none of my dozens of other Google searches even mentioned it. Yes, that solved the problem. Btw, I also have to pull the cable at various other load screens between flights, not just on startup. Yes, it’s a pain

May we know if same issue happens with other game titles?
Are you part of Xbox or PC Insider?

Suggested troubleshooting you may try:

Install PC updates including Optional Update. Guide - Update Windows and if you have issues with update, please check the troubleshooting steps available here - Troubleshoot problems updating Windows.
Please do the update of drivers, guide - update drivers in Windows.
Note: Please make sure you know your credentials before proceeding to the next steps. If in doubt, try to manually sign in here: Microsoft Account | Home.
- Log out from Xbox app and Microsoft Store. Make sure there is no account remain logged into those apps.
- Reset/Repair Microsoft Store and Xbox app (if using). Guide - Repair apps and programs in Windows.
- Clear the store cache by typing “wsreset” in the Windows search bar. Run this as admin and wait for the screen to close and open the store automatically.
Restart and disable all antivirus, antimalware, VPN, proxy, firewall and PC Optimizer. Try to reupdate the game.

All you have to do when the blue bar gets finished and the screen is just sitting there unplug your Ethernet cable and it will progress to the start flight screen then you can plug the cable back in to be reconnected , kind of a pain i was hoping MS would fix this maybe with SP 11. simple fix but a pain having to do it every time i want to go fly

I've tried all the suggestions you posted and my MsFS just hangs on the loading screen. It started before the new su10 release for me. I decided to upgrade my NVMe hard-drive to 1TB. This past weekend I installed windows 10 and installed all updates and drivers. Then installed MSFS on this fresh hard drive with fresh windows install...and after installation I have the same issue. Background music is still playing and the blue bar is all the way to the right. I've checked my hardware and all is functioning as expected and no high temperature issues.

Been trying all week to get this to work. Very disappointed.
