Flashing Dots And Audio Loss

Hello everyone,

I have the issue with the flashing dots and sometimes get audio loss, I have had a look and found it seems to be quite a common issue but nobody has mentioned how to resolve it so hoping somebody here can help me?

Everything was fine until I took my Xbox One out of preview build and after it went through factory reset these issues occured.

I put it back into preview build and the problems remain.

I should mention it only ever does it when I switch to 4K (unsure about the audio as only happened twice) but it is a 4K TV and never had any issues with these settings before. Xbox does display the TV capabilities in settings.

Any ideas?

Thanks for coming to the forums. We recommend posting on the
preview forum. As this started when you were on the preview program when this started. There may be an issue with a preview update. Posting on the insider forum will also let others know about the issue.

I am sorry problems have cropped up. I read that the issue started AFTER you left the Preview Build program (though posting there does not hurt). The risk sometimes makes us wary to make changes for the hopefully better, I know.

Almost always the problem still occurs after game reloads, factory reset and reload and checking cable connections. Factory reset does not reset firmware, so my belief is that the issue is in the HDMI path. If you can try using a higher quality and shorter
HDMI cable in combination with a different HDMI port on your TV, that might very well solve your issue.

One of my mates suggested also trying another TV if you can.

Technical note: The white dots come from edge transitions that do not translate cleanly due to noise. This, of course, is more prevalent with the higher definition where more data is being sent at a higher rate.

My suspect for why this was not happening earlier is that the interface was not putting out true 4K before.

Please let us know how this path works for you and if you decide to return for repair.

Thanks SuicideFlash changing the HDMI cable fixed the problem.

I know the console was set to 4K and all available video modes enabled.

The HDMI cable used was a QED one which cost about £30 if I remember right, swapped it for a cheap Silvercrest one and no noise - same port on TV.

Tried it again incase it wasn't plugged in properly and it came back so using the cheap one just now but I notice the colours aren't as vivid as the QED cable is. Connected the QED to my STB and picture is fine displaying 4K so issue is that cable on the
console that I've used since last December.

Thanks for your help, I would never have tried changing the cable since the problem only occured after factory reset.
