  1. Flash Drive Write-Protection Issue

Hey I'm having this same exact issue, I've been using my usb drive for a while and all the sudden I want to play a game and the thing pops up and asks for the memory unit I want to play on, I noticed my usb drive wasn't there...AND I WAS IN MY XBOX! I went
to settings and storage and when I went on my memory unit (the memory in my xbox) it said 1.9 GB then i went to where it said 2 devices and it said I had 14.3 GB so I went back to my usb drive and whenever I press A on it, it says it can't transfer or write
data, check to see if it's write protected. I downloaded a lot of things on there too, my cousins and friends had gamer profiles on there and I downloaded my halo 4 multiplayer on there, so my drive can read but it can't write...AND!!!!!!! every time I check
online for guides it shows some software called regedit the clearly doesn't work and it's just sooo frustrating because I made some really good forge maps on halo 4 that I can't play right now...HOW DO I FIX THIS WRITE PROTECTION ISSUE?!?!?!?!?!?!?1?1?

    :)

  2. Flash Drive Write-Protection Issue

Some Memory card / Pen drive have written protection switches When it enabled they prevent files from being deleted, It also stops you from accidentally formatting your Memory card/Pen drive. It’s a positive side of write protection.

But! Sometimes, while trying to format, your Windows will tell that “This drive is write protected” and will refuse to format even after disabling the write protection switch (if there’s any).

And nowadays the old tricks are not working properly because of some errors. but don’t worry !!! I have got a new method to remove write protection from SD card. Not only one!!!

  3. Flash Drive Write-Protection Issue

So, while I was out of state visiting other family, my parents decided to buy my little brother PvZ: Garden Warfare. For some reason, they were unable to download it, though. I just got back, and I've been checking what might be wrong. As it turns out,
there's an issue with my Dane-Elec USB flash drive that I had been using. I'm still unsure what exactly is wrong with it, but the main things of note are that my Xbox has been constantly freezing while attempting to load the profiles to sign in to, though
only when the flash drive is inserted. When it does not freeze, and I'm actually capable of going to my storage settings, either a) The USB has only a designated amount of space left, but holds no files whatsoever, in which case the screen proceeds to freeze
once more when I attempt to go back to view all devices connected (unless I remove said USB drive), or b) I am given a message stating that the Xbox could not read the Flash Drive and that it may be write-protected. Deciding to check the Flash Drive on my
computer, I then found out that the flash drive was in fact write protected, and that it was impossible to read any files on it due to the files not showing up, yet still taking up space. I've had an experience with a very unhelpful customer support worker
(which is a frustration in and of itself given the currently insanely long wait time to get connected), I've checked everywhere on the forums, and I've read through the page regarding flash drives and USB storage devices to find nothing regarding these same
issues. Can anyone shed some light on what the exact issue may be, as well as what I may be able to do to fix it?

    Flash Drive Write-Protection Issue

Hey there Brian! This definitely sounds frustrating, so let's see what we can do to get things sorted.

It sounds like the flash drive you're using may be on its way out, but just in case it's not, let's try to resolve the write protected issue first.

To get that sorted, I suggest finding a how-to guide for resolving write protection errors on a USB/Flash Drive. A couple good ones can be found here -

How To Fix Write Protection Errors On a USB Stick
    - and here -
How to Remove Write Protection From My USB Flash Drive
. It very well could be something as simple as flipping a Write-Protection switch on the side of the flash drive.

If none of that works for you, then I'm sorry to say that it sounds like the USB/Flash drive may be on its way out. I would suggest taking another USB/Flash drive (if you have one) and try

    downloading your profile
to that drive. Once that's done, try accessing your profile, etc and see how things go.

Let us know how everything goes! We hope to hear back from you. =)

    Flashdrive write protected

Hi, please make sure you format your scan disk if you can on the Xbox and not the PC. There are many software's on the internet which can help you to remove write protection on your flash drive. Just search for 'removing write protection for flash drive'.
Also check out the page which has more info on flash drive use on Xbox.

How do I get out of the trouble shoot page?

    Thank you, Ash.

From what you are telling me, it seems your flash drive has write protection on it or is damaged. Do you have a different flash drive you can use?
