    Flash drive to transfer data from one Xbox to another


    Hello,

    I am thinking about getting an Xbox 360 S to replace my original one which does not work. I know I can download my profile and all purchases to the S from the cloud, but my question is regarding game saves and all other local data.

    Can I use a flash drive to transfer all this data to the S from my original console's hard drive? I'd like to be able to do this so I do not have to use a transfer cable.

    Question About buying a Xbox

    The transfer cable is only needed for transferring data from one hard drive to another. So if you were transferring your game saves from your old xbox hard drive, then you would need a transfer cable or flash drive. Otherwise, you can just follow GreyPilgrim's
    advice and you'll be all set.

    Ive got myself a flash drive now so that i can transfer all my old data from original HDD onto the new one im waiting to arrive !

    Have you got to go into settings to transfer data on to USB Flash drive??

    Yes you can.I've done this myself.

    You can download your profile when you connect your new console to live for the first time.

    You can re download your games from your download history & transfer your saves to a USB drive & move them that way.

    You will have to do a license transfer for your games.

    The transfer cable is only meant to transfer data from one Xbox hard drive to another. You would not be able to keep the 60gb connected and use the hard drive like that. The data would have to be transferred to another hard drive.

    Transferring memory from one hard drive to another...

    You can transfer your DLC etc from one hard drive to another by either using a transfer cable or a USB flash drive.

    The flash drive has to be at least 1GB in size and a maximum of 16GB.
