    Flash Drive Storage


    I have an Xbox 360 but I don't have the hard drive for it. I was told I could use a flash drive so I can watch Netflix off the Xbox. The Xbox needs to update and won't let me update saying I don't have the amount of storage when I have over 3 GB on the flash
    drive and it only needs 190 MB. I don't know know what to do at this point because the Xbox is recognizing it in storage settings.

    I formatted my flash drive using the 360 console. If I put music files, games, etc. onto the flash drive via my pc, would those files be readable/transferrable when being used by the 360 console?

    Flash Drive Storage?!

    When a flash drive is formatted for use on the 360, it is basically only for use on the 360. 360 files are no meant to be seen by a PC. So you would not be able to go back and forth without having to reformat the drive for what you want to save.

    To clarify further, system updates would need to be installed on the console's internal memory, specifically; is there any content currently installed to the console itself that you can move to the external storage, to make room for that update?

    If I formatted the flash drive via my pc in fat32 format, would I still be able to use it with the 360 console? I am wanting to be able to transfer/view/use the files that are put onto the flash drive.

    I think that what I was going for would have been too much work and I am not around enough to really use the xbox 360. Also, it would be illegal for me to do. I decided to not go down that route. Thanks for all your answers!

    When you format the flash drive it is meant to be used for game saves and DLC. It is possible that you could put other files on the drive to use with the console but it is recommended to use a separate drive for that purpose just to prevent accidents in
    the future.
