FIXED - error code 8b0500b6

My xbox has turned into a brick.

today, trying to watch bluray, very slow to start, very slow to "connect"

cannot connect to xbox live

update failed message on system screen

attempted several restarts and power resets, holding power button, unplugging for 30+ seconds

attempted offline update - never recognized usb

now has completely reset and cannot get past update system task.

error code 0x8b0500b6 0x00000000 0x00000201

Need help ASAP

Connected console to cellular hotspot <not on ISP wifi or LAN>

At update screen received a message like "oops, our mistake. console update not required" <thanks Microsoft>

Once this was complete I was able to create a manual <static> IP address. then from ISP router create port forwarding to console.

NOTE - NAT type is still listed as "strict" but am able to connect to xbox live, download games and use the console.

that is to say it would not connect to xbox live prior to attempting offline update

System has since reset and cannot get past the update system portion.

Code does not exist.

if i were offering quasi tech support to someone, i would have at least verified this code existed prior to offering a solution. You may be able to tell i have reviewed posts and support documentation having gone so far as attempting an offline update.
So please dig a little deeper and be more specific in offering support.

i assume you refer to the network configuration. I can “connect” via wifi and lan. But system will not connect to xbox live.

Try first find what this error code means in https://support.xbox.com/error-code-lookup and the check your connection configuration is ok

I get the same error, update my console manually, but then the problem happens again.

Can you please publish all error codes and the process to fix them. I entered this error code into the Microsoft xbox one s erro code search on the xbox support page and it said error not found. That's not cool all error codes that can be generated should
be published, if its not published it shouldn't exist.

What is the permanent fix to error code: 8B0500B6 so the error doesn't occur again in the future?

This error occurs when you try to update whilst the Xbox servers are undergoing maintenance. The solution is to try again in a while.
