Fix the buy for child option to actually buy for the child.

There is an option it's called family settings

Create a child account for children or buy the family plan which will save you from buying multiple accounts

If you do have a child account the your only option is to use your parental account with gold to buy the game

So this did actually work. To be clear, you need to add a credit card to your child's account (a step that should not be necessary if you have a family payment method). If you then turn off Ask to Buy for your child's account, select the credit card when purchasing with the child account, and the transaction will go through (rather than going to approval, at which point you cannot use the credit card, only pre-loaded cash) . Just remember to turn Ask to Buy back on afterwards so your child doesn't spend all your money on Minecraft items.

Overall this system seems badly broken. In contrast the Google Play store method just works - add a payment method once for the family and require parent approval for purchases on child accounts. Fix it Microsoft.

Actually, many online retailers do offer the option to buy a "digital" gift card. They will send you a redemption code via e-mail that can be entered on the child's account, adding the subscription to it.

Plus, you can use parental controls to allow a child to launch a purchase that the adult must confirm. You can do this at the

No there's no option for me to buy it at all. It says on the right where it normally says buy 'Buy on Xbox.com or Xbox 360. You can't buy this on Xbox One.'

But then when I go to Xbox.com there's no option to buy either.

Because your account is a child account youd need to use a parental account with actual gold to make the purchase or use an xbox 360 like the error said

You csn double check with xbox support if your account is an adult but you cant change the age of an account as its perm
