[Fix] How to fix not being able to log into backwards compatible games AFTER a gamertag change.

First and most important, YOU WILL LOSE SAVED PROGRESS WITH THIS METHOD.

Only do this if the methods from customer support don't work and you're willing to lose your saves.

1. Go to Settings

2. Go down to System

3. Go to Storage under System

4. Click "Clear local Xbox 360 storage"

5. System will restart and you'll be able to play again.

If this doesn't work for you and you find another fix, or a fix that lets you keep saved games, please comment below.

Trying to play backwards compatible game

the xbox asks for a profile then log into xbox live.

Have xbox live and its connected and have tried many other suggestions from reddit on how to fix such as power cycle.. Not working.

What now?

 

Can't buy backwards compatible games on marketplace?

It's not gears 3, (for as far as i know gears 3 is not backwards compatible)

I can't download any backwards compatible game.

Is there another way then to log in on a xbox 360 console? like if i buy a physical disc of a backwards compatible game, would it work then? and would i be able to download 360 games after that.

In order to play backwards compatible titles after a gamertag change, all you would need to do is re-download your profile from the Xbox 360 Menu on a backwards compatible title. That should fix it.

The thing is even I use your method,Wade Wilson, or I reset factory like Blitz told me to, I can't even download my profile while logging to play 360 games. Because it said I can't connect to live. I've been looking up a lot of methods but I can't fix it.
A lot of people also have this problem and we are still waiting for the answer

 

LuBulegend92, if your console is connected via wi fi, try this: go in network settings by insert the ip address in the url bar of your browser, then look for the 360 emulator in the list of connected devices via wi fi (recognized as a device in its own right,
mine is dhcppc2, but it can be different), and set it from generic device to gaming console and check the box "allowed on wlan" if not checked. I hope i've helped you

 

Hi, I'm having the exact same problem. I recently changed my gamertag, and now when I start up the backwards compatible game, it tells me I need to redownload my profile. I enter my credentials, and every time it tells me that they're unable to download
it. I've scoured the Internet and forums for answers, and have found nothing. I look on the forums here and all I see is the same answer from the moderators or whoever; "Once you start up the game, go to the 360 menu and download your profile again!" This
hasn't been working or worked for anyone, and I think we all would like some answers and help to fix this, Microsoft.
