First World Problems. Instant On vs Energy Saving.

So I have tried out both Instant On and Energy Saving for a while and I don't know which one to stick with.

Energy Savings just works, but obviously there are no background updates or the fast start up.

Instant On seems to have some glitches but other than that it's OK. The one thing Microsoft can do to make Instant On perfect is add a setting in, which when ticked closes all Games and Apps from the RAM (Or Cache) so you still get to take advantage
of the background updates and fast start up but you dont have the RAM problems and you don't have to worry about closing your game before you turn it off.

Xbox one won't register my internet password

If you have your Xbox One on instant on mode turn it to energy saving mode instead. Instant on causes alot of problems with networks.

Yeah,for some reason "instant on" always sets my NAT to strict but never any problems when in "energy saving" mode.

 

I have it on instant on, but either way is ok lol I only leave it on for the updates as some of them are rather big

 

I used to have it instant on but found the amount of electric it was using was ridiculous - Have now changed to energy saving and can really see the difference on the amount the electric meter was using.

 

When I first had it I used instant but found it made the console very sluggish and glitchy on dash, since I've gone energy saving it's all been good, so that's where it's staying

 

Yep,energy saving mode for me as well.

 

Used to be instant on, but really, the updates haven't been that frequent enough to warrant the increase in the electricity bill from having it on all the time. It shall remain on energy saving now.

 

Instant on for me, love how all updates are done when I'm not on. Also the speed at which all my devices turn on and boot straight tv is brilliant!

 

I just turn mine on when I need to use it.

 

Instant on for me and never had any sluggish problems and love the intant game resume feature and all updates in the background. Maybe I dont have dash problems because I dont tend to use apps.

 

How much extra on the old electricity does 'instant on mode' cost? I use it myself although I often have to turn my Xbox off at the wall after an update because it pretty much bricks my console until it does the start up with the green screen. Cheers.

 

I have it on instant on and I wonder how much it uses as the bills aren't really any different to when I had it on energy saving

 

I saw a graph of power use of all the consoles and yes it does use more in instant on (obviously) but nothing significant that would mean an noticeable increase in bills. I certainly havent noticed wopping energy bills since getting mine on day one and
its been in insta on ever since.

 

Most things in standby mode use 50-80% of the power of the machine.

I doubt the cost of powering an XO is enough to make a significant leap in your bill so a reduction of 50% of that will not make a difference to your bill.
