First time user

My son has used xbox 360 without subscription to live for 1 year.

I have now purchased a 3m gold subscription and redeemed online - adding it to my microsoft account.

My son has a microsoft account he uses for email which is "family" linked to mine.

How do i "transfer" this credit to his profile on the xbox?

I presume the profile he uses on the xbox needs to be linked to our accounts but cant find a way of doing this on the xbox.

When i look in the settings tab both the "profile" and "account" sections are greyed out

I have tried that and everytime i do it says there is already an account created, can you walk me through step by step on system

Don't create a new account, use the download profile option on the sign in page, and input the proper email and password for the account.

 

if you added a gold membership to your account only you can use it. for other profiles to use a gold membership that gamertag must be signed in and then payment or prepaid card can be used to activate gold.

Unfortunately, you can't transfer Gold memberships like that.

On the Xbox One the "Home Console" can share the Gold membership to other accounts on that very console, but the Xbox 360 console can't do that.

You need to either buy a separate Gold membership for your son via Prepaid Gold cards, or subscribe to the Gold membership with his account.

Just for clarification:

When these two tiles are greyed out, your son probably isn't joined to Xbox Live at all (not even as a free member).

When your son is signed in on his console, you need to use the "Join Xbox Live" option and follow the instructions.

When asked for a Microsoft Account, provide your son's Microsoft Account email.

If the console tells you that this Microsoft Account is already tied to a Gamertag, you need to decide, if your son keeps that Gamertag, and simply downloads the profile with the Microsoft Email address, but this means losing all previous game progress.

Or you make a new Microsoft Account email, join that to your family and allow your son to join Live with the new Microsoft Account.

Or you need to make a new Microsoft account, download the current Microsoft account with the Gamertag, and

move the Gamertag to the new Microsoft Account.

This will free your sons current Microsoft account, and you can then use that (after a 30 day "cooldown" period) to join his existing Gamertag on the console with that Microsoft Account.
