First setup - can't login

New xbox.

Switch on, specify timezone, country etc then am asked to sign in using my microsoft account

I sign in using the account details that work for my old xbox 360, also work to login to my account on PC, however now I get 'Another user on this device uses this microsoft account, so you cant add it here'

I can proceed no further.

On searching for a solution some suggest checking which accounts are already on the xbox one, however to do that I have to start at the home screen, which I cannot access as I am not yet signed in. I con't find a way to factorty reset either

How do I proceed?

Hi, I can't login on the EA servers first I can't login and 2 minutes later it disconnects from xbox live, please help, I'm not paying for nothing

 

Change Wireless Mode

• Default Gateway - 192.168.0.1 / 192.168.1.1
  
• Username - admin
• Password - admin1/password1/<user generated on first login>

Change Wireless Mode

1. Open a web browser.
2. Enter http://192.168.1.1 or
   http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar. (Or click either link) Enter the username and password if the gateway asks. (admin/set at first login, write this password down)
   
3. Select Manual Setup.
4. Select Wireless Setup from the menu across the top.
5. Select Radio Setup from the menu on the left.
6. Under step 3 (Select Mode) select 802.11g only.
7. Select Apply.

 

Have you tried removing the account from the 360 first, although this shouldn't prevent you from adding the account to the XBO. Also make sure the account on the 360 is up and running the same time as the XBO they clash. Also if you have port forwarding
on the 360 it'll clash with the XBO as well.

Unfortunately the networks usually slow down around the holiday, because there are thousands if not millions of people all trying to sign-on and make profiles at the same time, so you might be having bad luck getting through.

You can always try making your account on here if the XBO just can't do it, or contact customer service for help.

Also to hard reset just hold the power button for 10 - 15 seconds until you hear the chime and the Xbox eventually turns itself off. However, I would only do this as a last resort so you don't brick the console if you haven't already performed the updates.

I don't quite understand - in the first part of your reply you say to remove the troublesome account from the 360, which is clear. However then you say that the account on the 360 must be running at the same time as the new XBO - but I wouldn't be able to
do that if I had removed the account?

I am fairly sure the 360 was running while I was attempting to setup the XBO but I will check - I certainly would have been logged in on the 360 at the time so that might explain things - worth trying signing out prior to XBO setup I think?

I'm sorry I meant to say the account on the 360 isn't up and running at the same time. You don't want the same account running on 360 and XBO on at the same time, it can cause problems.

 

OK we signed out of our profile (a childs profile) on xbox360, left it running and then attempted to sign in on xbox one. No success.

I had a look at the xbox live account and notice that it has a different login address compared with my microsoft account address. I therefore suspect that this is 2 accounts, one of which (xbox live) I dont know the password to! Is that feasible?

I also checked my microsoft account and it has no transaction history, despite the fact that there have been several purchases as well as live account over the last year. I assume they all go through the live account?

Fixed it! I researched the account that came up when I tried to set xbox live settings and have found that IT is the account that my son uses and not my account - even though his profile is listed in my account as a child profile. Logging in with that account
