First player as second player (Xbox 360 controller)

Hi there,

if this is happening on a Xbox 360 console then please try the following.

Power the Xbox 360 down, wait until the light on console is off and wait another 30 seconds.

After that disconnect the console from power for at least 2 minutes.

These steps should make sure there is no cache etc left to cause weirdness.

After those 2 minutes reconnect the console to power and power the console on again by holding the Xbox Logo button on the controller.

These steps usually fix weird controller issues on the Xbox 360 console and controllers.

The numbers indicate the player number, so the first controller connected for 'player 1' then the light with the 1 next to it will be on, when a second controller is connected for the second player then the light with 2 will be on. It's to indicate what
controller is connected to which player.

That does happen, it will usually assign the controller to each player once the game is launched. What title are you trying to play? Depending, many times whatever account is on the dashboard, whatever controller presses A to lauch the title will be assigned
as the player 1 (and player that was at the dashboards) controller. If a game doesn't support 2 player, there are times both controllers can work.

I happened to get it to work by experimenting (Microsoft, you need to explain these things better). First, I had to create a second xbox account which will be used by the "second/other" player. After creating the new xbox live account, I logged into that
account on the xb1 using the second controller, designating that controller to the second player. Then go into Forza with either account and the second player should be available. Give a whirl and let us know if it worked for you too. Good luck!

I understand that two controllers cannot control one guy but if I am playing alone and my controller dies, the second controller should automatically take over the first player when turned on.

The 360 does this and it makes sense and is very useful

Do you by chance have a second controller signed in, that is pushing up?

On the main Xbox menus, multiple controllers are "fighting" over the control of the dashboard, and every controller can move the cursor.

When you start a game, each controller is assigned to a specific player, and only that player is controlled. So if a second controller is always pushing up, it won't affect control in a game of the first controller anymore.
