Fireteam and friends

Hi all, I'm looking for some folks who want to do some of the group stuff in Destiny. I am admittedly a mediocre player, I love the game, but my aim is a bit off at times. So I want to meet some people who don't mind too much. I have fun playing, I'm kinda
tired of the folks who rage quit missions and such. gamertag .

Trouble Adding Friends to Fireteam

I am having a hard time getting my friends on a fireteam.

so far, we were both in destiny and went back into HOME and started a party. Went back into Destiny (while in orbit) and opened up the friend list. I invited my friends to a fireteam by clicking their name under the "friend list" and selecting "Invite to
Fireteam". They got nothing.

I was never able to get their name from the friend list, over to the fireteam list (which I assume is a sign it worked).

We both tried powering off. Didn't work. The one thing I have not tried, is launching a party BEFORE going into Destiny.

Any other thoughts on how to fix this?

Also - do I have to leave the party sidebar up the entire game?

Thanks for the advice, sea cow; I had no idea!

In any case, another beta issue I seem to have encountered is that when you're in a party and a fireteam with friends, said friends in the fireteam can't hear you when you unsnap the party you're all in. Is anyone else experiencing this?
