    FiOS TV passthrough cable card error on HBO channels


    Hi all,

    TV passthrough is working well so far with my Verizon FiOS (Quantum multi-room DVR) except when I try to access HBO channels. The set top box gives an error "In order to start cable card service for this device, please contact your cable card provider."
    All of my other premium features work fine except the HBO channels.

    Hoping someone else has experienced this and knows the fix.

    Xbox Live Entertainment Lineup fees

    to those that make comments like i already have this on cable or sat so why do i need it on xbox?

    these apps work diffrently than their counterparts on cable sat do. for instance i have at&t uverse with tv recording ability.

    lets picj hbo go for comparison i have hbo on tv so i get the hbo app on xbox for no extra fee. on tv i can record hbo but i cant go back an wacth hbo shows that i havent or forgot to record. on the xbox hbo go app i can wacth an entire series from first
    to last season at anytime i want. you cant do that on any hbo channel on tv. this is the benefit to most if not all the tv channel based appps on live.

    TWC App. Replace ur set top cable box. Cool

    The FiOS TV app isn't anything special IMO. I get more channels and features using the cable box.

    Cable TV stops working after a few seconds when passing though xbox and then A/V receiver.

    I have the same issue as well. Denon receiver.. FIOS TV/Motorola Cable Box. everything works fine for TV passthrough when connected straight to the TV, but as soon as I ad the AV receiver, TV signal goes black and TV cuts in and out. hopefully something
    that will get fixed in the future. I'm not sacrificing all of my other setups on my home theatre just to have the TV passthrough, but it's disappointing this doesn't seem to work with an AV receiver right now.

    Well, then it looks like you are out of luck. HBO GO will not work for you because to use it you have to sign in with the login information your cable provider provided you when you first signed up for their services, and that is how HBO GO determines whether
    you have HBO or not. They are also bringing Verizon Fios to the 360 as well if you have that instead of Comcast.

    If all you're trying to do is use the One Guide on the Xbox with your current cable box then it's as simple as plugging the cable boxes HDMI cable that is currently plugged into the TV into the Xbox.

    Do you not have a cable box and currently have a coaxial cable from wall to TV? If so are you just getting basic channels with no option of HBO, etc?
