I help out when a Public Event situation takes place when I'm on Patrol, then I go about doing whatever I want to again. I played 2 Strike Missions and they were " okay ". I didn't see what was so special about playing with others to be honest.

iBakez is right, you are missing out Lei Fang. I play both, so I get the best of both worlds.

To my knowledge, the way the Crucible works is it changes damage and defense (and I think speed and recovery too) so it's even across the board. The ONLY thing that is still then truly useful is the individual abilities that your character or weapons and
armor give you.

Agility

Recovery

Toughness

Damage

There's absolutely nothing wrong with avoiding vs MP and only wanting to play SP... it's a preference. There's plenty to do in Destiny's SP modes.

If you get your Vanguard level up to... 3, I think, then you have access to plenty of equipment from both the Vanguard Quartermaster (in the same area as the Shipwright) and your Vanguard... rep, I guess you could call him/her... in the room just past the
crucible reps.

Personally, I don't mind doing strikes with matchmaking (and maybe a raid, eventually), I have a blast with those as well. Again, it's a matter of preference. I like vs MP well enough in games like Halo. But even then I have to take an occasional break from
dealing with competitively driven people who may or may not be very good sports and just relax in SP goodness.

All in all, I think Destiny does a good job of making vs MP optional without penalizing anyone or keeping them from getting decent loot. I haven't set foot in the crucible. I have all purple armor, mostly legendary on my Warlock and once I get my Vanguard
level to 3 (it's 2 now), I'll probably be pretty well armed too. Of course, that may be awhile... I just started another toon yesterday since my nephew finally got his X1 and a copy of Destiny.

Do I know what I'm missing? Aside from jumping into 'piranha infested' water, nothing that seems to be holding me back anywhere else in the game... and I'm far too busy doing the tons of other stuff like strikes, daily story missions and bounties to even
care.

To each his/her own indeed. I ignore those crucible NPCs like they're lumps of plastic as I walk by.

Rinoa (Level 25 Warlock, Human Female) is almost level 26; I just need one Ascendant Shard to upgrade my armor to reach it

@King - Sounds like borderlands is a good thing for you, though I'm getting the vibe that you prefer Borderlands over Destiny! Though glad you're enjoying it, I still haven't played anything since its release!

Also thought I'd quickly comment on the crucible, I didn't play a single game until rank 28 and so far I've played maybe 5 matches and had a positive K/D every time. So I'd agreed with the others and wait it out until you've got weapons and abilities you're
comfortable with.
