Final Fantasy. looking for an opinion.

i am looking for an opinion from the xbox community because recently one of my friends suggested trying one the final fantasy games to play.

my biggest problem is one of my other friends says no so before i buy it i wanted another independent opinion so if someone is willing to give one i would be highly gratefull.

i have played no games like this before hoeever i have played 2 adventure games which is why 1 suggested i try it however the games i played where borderlands so my other friend says there isnt any commparison.

i was wondering if anyone knows if its worth a shot. i dont buy games without lots of thought so was hopping someone who has played these games would help.

if its helps my interest is in games with good story lines, lots of upgrading/earning xp items that sort of thing.

Final Fantasy 7 HD Remake

To me Final Fantasy 7 & 8 was a let down! Final Fantaxy 9 however gave me everything i wanted and that was the real fantasy with charming characters. Part 7 & 8 was about being looking tough. A game named final fantasy should have charming looking characters
and part 9 has that! nuff said

 

Well, first thing is first: which Final Fantasy are you thinking about playing? There are many, many, titles in the series to choose from. Personally, I don't think anyone will be of much help to you until you can tell
us that bit of information. However, I will say, your friend is right in saying Final Fantasy is nothing like Borderlands, as they are wildly different in terms of core gameplay. The only common ground between the two titles is earning XP, and depending on
how you look at it, acquiring loot.

From your described interests, I would think you would enjoy Final Fantasy. Some of the earlier Final Fantasy games have very challenging battles, so it does require thought. The series is also renown for its narrative
capabilities & RPG gameplay.

The fact that you made a post shows that you're interested enough in playing the game, so I suggest you go for it. It's a classic, groundbreaking series, regardless of how some view the latest entries.

 

I wouldn't recommend anything after FF7.

my friend who did recommend it said it as the game in general not a specific, so unless its a bad idea ill probably buy the newest one i can find for 360.

if you want a good hd final fantasy game, try lost odyssey. it's as much a final fantasy game as you can get without it actually being titled "final fantasy"...though be forewarned, it has a couple kids in your group that can be pretty annoying.

 

If you're an RPG fan then go FF series, Borderlands is an un-funny shooter with super basic RPG elements. With that sad and done, it isn't a bad game, it just trys to cover many genre's and it's really a shooter.

 

I second the Lost Odyssey recommendation it is made by the creator of Final Fantasy, BUT any Final Fantasy type RPG is going to be vastly different from boderlands, combat is more hands off, you don't actually run up and attack enemies. You select what kind
of attach you want to do and what enemy to do it too, and the computer does the attack, and the combat is turned based not real time. I'd recommend a Fallout game(3 or new Vegas) exp gaining, storyline you can find and equip new weapons and armor. Back to
Final Fantasy if you want to know what is going on get the oldest one, Final Fantasy 13, the other two Final Fantasy games on Xbox 360 are sequels to 13 and continue the storyline started with 13.

 

13 is a bad game for someone trying to jump into final fantasy, and jrpgs in general. combat is not amazing, though better than what some people might tell you, story is nothing but goes all over the place, most characters aren't likeable, it takes forever
to get into an open-world environment (seriously i think i was at least 20-30 hours in before i walked out onto an area that i couldn't see edges on the minimap), the whole game is basically a tutorial (i was still being taken out of the game to be taught
some new feature by the time i quit, a couple hours of grinding in the open-world)...

I'd skip over FF and play Lost Odyssey or even Blue Dragon. The older FF games are great but dated, the newer ones are terrible...well at least 13 was.

 

Hey op, Not sure what consoles you own, if it's XB only then Borderlands

 

The style of the game is "JRPG" which is Japanese Role Playing Game.

These usually consist of you and a party experiencing lavish cut scenes interspaced with gameplay that sees you roaming areas and fighting groups of monsters.

On the 360 i would recommend "Eternal Sonata". It's a beautiful game and not too hard to get to grips with.

I also recommend "Final Fantasy XIII" on the 360 even this may cause some die-hard Final Fantasy fans head's to explode.

This is because if you're not a biassed teenager upset that they yet again failed to re-make "Final Fantasy VII" it's one of the best looking games on the 360.

"Lost Odyssey" is another great one that's not too hard to get into.

On a more hardcore level... "The Last Remnant" is a MASSIVE game. "Star Ocean" is another big and pretty JRPG.

"Infinite Undiscovery" could probably be better described as "Infinite Waste Of Time" and then there's "Resonnance Of Fate" which is very innovative... but also very hard to wrap your head around.

Let's not forget "Tales of Vesperia" which many people swear is amazing but I found to be like playing through an Anime where you control the main character... the only problem being it's possibly the dullest Anime ever created in the history of time.

The trouble with JRPG's are that they are very long, require grinding and much of the stuff can seem very wierd because of the Cultural differences between Eastern and Western audiences.

Still they can be very rewarding and if you can get into them you'll definately get lots out of them.

 

I never thought I would say this, but rpg's are starting to all seem the same to me and I'm starting to get bored. Can a game company please come out with a new idea so they all don't seem the same?
