Please try the following:

Step 1

- Type Troubleshoot in Windows search and press Enter

- If you can't see troubleshooters, click the Additional troubleshooters option on the right

- Here, find Windows update section

- Click Run the troubleshooter and wait till the process is finished.

Step 2

- Type Services in Windows search and hit Enter

- In the new Windows, scroll down till you find Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)

- If the service is running, right-click and select Restart

- If not, right-click and select Start

- Do the same with Windows Update service.

Step 3

Press Win + REnter the following and hit Enter:

regsvr32 Qmgr.dll /s

Open the Run dialog again and run the following command:

regsvr32 Qmgrprxy.dll /s

Step 4

For this fix to work, you would have to find another Windows 10 machine of the same version (Home/Pro/Enterprise). If you have access to such a machine, do the following:

- Access another computerType regedit in Windows search and press Enter

- If User Account Control shows up, click YesNavigate to the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\TrustedInstaller

- Right-click on the branch and select Export

- Choose the location, name the file trustedinstaller and click Save

- Transfer the file to your computer

- Once the file is on your desktop, double-click the trustedinstaller.reg to merge it with your own registry

- Restart the PC and try updating Windows again.

Step 5

If none of the above helps, you can repair your Windows installation without losing files or installed apps. Here's how to do it:

- Go to the official Microsoft website and download installation files

- Once downloaded, double-click the setup.exe

- Accept License and Terms, select Upgrade this PC now, and click Next

- After the necessary files are downloaded, choose Keep personal files and apps

- Click Install (make sure that all apps are closed and not running before doing this)

- Your PC will restart and installation finished

I don't think the game is the cause of your mistake. In any case, try to stop the game installation. Uninstall it. Fix corrupt system files if there are any. Then try installing Gears 5 again

ok so no, that didnt help, when i try to launch a game from the xbox app, I get a windows error: File system error (-2015294512).

This is the more recent error that I have been getting lately, it originally started displaying a MS error about "this game is not currently available for your account. Make sure you are signed into the store." Which has evolved to now be showing this file system error. I will note, I did fix this file system error, but then i just got the MS store error, I dont remember how i fixed the file system error, but Im pretty sure i just followed another forum, and then something broke it again. I think it broke again when i reset game services.

When this was happening to me, I ran the System File Checker to clean things up in my Windows 10 installation and hopefully fix the problems with my Xbox app as well.

Review the steps carefully in the article for how to run System File Checker from the command line. This will seek out any broken or messed up files in Windows 10 and try to fix them. The problem you're describing indicates to me that there's something else in Windows that the Xbox app depends on, and whatever it is isn't acting right.

The 0x8xxxxxxx error codes for Windows 10 Xbox Game Pass are Windows error codes, not error codes for the Game Pass app. The Game Pass app is simply an extension of the Windows Store.

Error code 0x80070005 is a Windows update error. Which means, despite your Operating System being updated to the latest version (be sure yours says version 1903) one or
more Windows Updates are either not installed or damaged.

Things to try:

Run the System File Checker

SFC or System File Checker is a Windows inbuilt utility that lets you scan and repair damaged and corrupt system files that might be hindering the update installation.

Hold the Windows key and tap R to bring up the run command box.

Type CMD into this box and press enter

In Windows Command Prompt Type sfc /scannow and hit Enter key.

Wait for a while till the scan and repair process is finished

Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

Press and hold the Windows key and tap X and click ‘Settings.’

Go to ‘Update & Security and click on Troubleshoot

Click on Windows update

Click ‘Run the troubleshooter’.

Grant admin permission and follow the troubleshoot wizard to apply fixes

A last resort would be to reset your Windows. However, this will delete your stored files and applications, so try the above first and let us know how you get on.
