Figuring out my "Disc Drive Issue".

Hello everyone,i created this thread to see if my "issue" is a true problem or not,so here i go...

Every time i turn on my X1,after the bleeb blop,there is a sound from the Blu-ray disc drive that checks if there's a disc(lasts 1 second) and that's normal.But is it normal to hear that sound(Disc check) after the initial start?

It goes like this:I turn on X1, Blu-ray disc drive check sound,then after 15 minutes or so, disc check sound and it goes on and on.This occurs when there is no disc in the disc drive.Support said it's normal (i called and tweeted them,both said the same).

Everything works perfect on my X1,it's just this sound.Maybe it's normal and i'm just too paranoid,but does any of you have noticed this disc check sound every 15 minutes or so?

You do not understand what I am saying or you are just trolling the thread juandogs. No issue with receiving any weapon variant from Sledgehammer, but why must they take up an attachment slot. Why not offer the attachment while still having the two weapon
attachment slots available. That's all.

Yeah, I just unlocked a varient of a weapon last night and I could not add anything other than a sight.

 

You got any way of recording a video or anything of the sound? After the March update I recorded videos of disc drive seeking noise and after my videos were passed on to the devs they released a fix for it during the April update.

My Xbox too has started making a random 1 second bumping sort of sound but it happens intermittently and doesn't seem to be causing any other problems, I'd be interested in seeing if it's the same as what you're talking about though, if it is, it's likely
caused by an update and can be fixed with another update.

the sound is basically the startup disc drive check.

I searched Youtube and i found a video in which you can hear this sound,the following video is not mine, i am posting the link so you can listen to the sound i am talking about.

Yes that sound at 0:09 is pretty much what mine has been doing recently as well. I can't say I've heard it when I have a disc in the drive but when I don't and I'm playing digital copies of games or using TV apps etc. I hear that sound intermittently, maybe
3 or 4 times an hour.

Like the disc seeking noise with the 1403 update I'm wondering if this is caused by an update also and could be fixed with a future update.

 

I've posted this in the Early Access Update Preview section of the forum and included that video along with another I recorded myself. An official member of staff has now passed it on to the engineers to investigate.

Clearly it's hard to record the sound happening when it's sudden and intermittent, but it clearly is the same 'disc check' noise that you hear at startup.

Really helpful description to identify the sound HellspawnRei, as it just sounds like the console is merely checking for discs after initial startup I would expect it to be fixable in a new update.

You're lucky you still have the blu-ray drive clunking noise on startup! lol

After...I think the February Updates, my Xbox One (which was perfect, mind you!) neglects to initialize the blu ray drive if I use the "instant-on" feature (now, I have to wake it up manually, by pressing the eject button to hear the clunking noise). Then
I opted out of the preview beta...and it still hasnt come back to normal.

Man. Microsoft is slacking. smh.

 

Still awaiting a response to this issue in the Update Previews, still looks like this is update related like the last disc drive issue I reported, it can't just be an issue that suddenly starts affecting some consoles months after launch.
