Fighting Force

I heard that Sega had the publishing rights for Fighting Force...

As far as I'm aware it would be Eidos Interactive Inc. who would have the best chance of owning the rights to the two Fighting Force games. Sega had nothing to do with the publishing or development of these titles.

Only the original publisher could bring such titles to the Xbox platform. As long as the rights are entirely theirs it doesn't matter if the developer no longer exists. Core was owned by Eidos Interactive Inc when these games were made.

It's not a simple process though. First there is the rights and then there is getting the games on the system. If they were released 'as is' then then they would need a third party to make an emulator for them (or use a PC emulator and port it to the Xbox). That, or remake it from scratch and no one's going to do that unless there is some profit to be made. It's not a quick turn-around.

The problem is, while retro gaming is now more popular than ever, these old early 3D console games haven't aged too well. They're not nearly as popular as classic 16-bit 2D console and arcade games from the 80's and 90's.

This will really depend on the game developer as well if they will work together to make this work.

There is a big chance that at this point that's not likely to happen.

Can you recommend any Xbox One games that are similar to Fighting Force?

Fighting Force was released in 1997. I know the backward compatible program has ended. I was asking about a possible Xbox Live release of the Sega Saturn version which was unreleased in 1997.

This will depend on the game developer and as of the moment, there is no longer an option to request for a game to be a backward compatible game.
