I noticed there are many issues with a fight stick and Xbox adaptive controllers.

One issue is if I plug the inputs directly in the LT and the RT are "always on" because the lab says they are always on.

Also if I plug a PC 15 old style flight stick there are problems reading the directional buttons on the fight stick that's plugged into the Adaptive controller.

Also by default the two buttons on the flight stick map to dpad up and dpad down. Not A and B

And it seems like the controllers don't have the full rage of XY on these flight sticks. It's like the Y stops at 70% of the south maximum.

Two main questions. How do I get the analog stick working along with a set of buttons?

Second of all is there a way to get LT and RT treated as the digital buttons they are on a fight stick instead of as analog triggers?

And speaking of which why does the Xbox accessories app not have an all digital mode you could turn on so that the triggers are freely swappable between triggers and non-triggers?

    :)

    Hi TripleTopper321 ,

    Good day!

Thank you for your response and I really appreciate for this information.

I can really say that you do really have a nice set up. In this kind of matter, this could be an issue of compatibility and limitations. I can provide you support articles that could help you regarding this issue.

Fight stick issues with adaptive cobtroller.

Be glad to share the details.

My prototype design is described on, shown at, and is advocated for on sinistersticks.com.

I knew electronically the design had to be as follows: from a particular button, it has a y path between the button's signal port and two different pins on a db37 one pin on one side representing left hand arrangement and one pin on the other side representing right hand arrangement.

In theory if only one of the two db37s is plugged in and only one button is internally plugged to two pins on a db37 one on each side and there's no connection until after you plug in the db37 continuation and it only plugging one of them is equal to other behavior I've seen in an analog video, then it should act exactly like a one-way cord unless the two buttons that are paired up are physically connected some way within the Box.

I tried to describe this to my guy who built it, Stan The Stick Man Escaolano from somewhere in California (I don't know the local geography enough to tell you where).

Half the problem is he speaks a language of an electrical expert and I speak of a language of a theoretical designer. At first he thought it wouldn't work and we have stories to tell about how it kind of work the first time but didn't and how I solved it by doing research and how his instinct actually sunk the project the first time.

When I told him the problem of certain ethernet cables being A cables and certain ones being B cables and still others being crossovers he looked at what he did and saw i gave him a whole bunch of B cables and I said I couldn't tell. I didn't even know about A&B cable until this issue came up. That's why they tell you always wire according to the pin position not the color, like he was classically trained to.

I assumed the db37 connectors are 37 separate analog channels of electricity. Route 37 channels I can have each button on one channel the ground for each button on one channel each and the last button for power some other function that made me needed.

So there was no computer coding between the time the signal got generated and the Xbox received the signal on a db37 to multiple TRS form translator.

Now keep in mind that he made a mistake before that I was unaware of but I solved it by specifically not following my directions and following his instinct. So I can't tell you how he truly wired it but if the problem is not with the Xbox adaptive controller then he probably wired the corresponding buttons to each other that are flippable pairs like North and South, East and West quick kick and select, medium kick and medium punch heavy kick and heavy punch and special kicking special punch.

The only assigned function that only hit one button was whatever wire corresponded to the quick punch button.

To throw further complication to save money on shipping cuz shipping to California back cost a lot of money in addition to Stan's fees I thought I could save money by taking it to a local shop and even if this guy was charging more fees, I'd save in the end and not have to bother Stan unless I have to if I just physically dropped it off locally and picked it up a few days later.

There might be some kind of electrician's code where if they don't have a book saying something specific then some things are considered kind of icky. So even if Stan did listen to my directions, i have to ask the shop that I took it to did they do as minimalist work as possible as directed, or did they have to improvise and do more work than they thought because they didn't fully understand this. This guy won't be back from Christmas vacation until January 10th.

So if the corresponding paired buttons are wired together and not separately because a db37 has each of its signal separated and because I uniquely have a separate ground for each individual pin, mainly so I could use the Edladdin Super CV PCB for my ColecoVision, which requires two separate "grounds" (I know that's technically not the right term and maybe returns would be a better term but I don't know what else to call them)

I understand they might have a code of conduct and they were following it the best they could but as it turned out if Stan recollects correctly the days he built it, then the shop did something which make they thought was doing something right but I had specific directions not followed. I understand the theory about the patients should not tell the doctor what to prescribe but the doctor should diagnose and prescribe what he he or she thinks is best,

By the way it's a one-off custom-made home joystick designed to be ambidextrous because the market is very lacking in right-handed joysticks. I understand the economics enough to understand why they don't make separate left and right-handed versions like they do hockey sticks, golf clubs, and baseball gloves, (if you mis-predict the ratio then you're going to have a shortage of one and a surplus of the other, a recipe for financial disaster.). I've seen second generation joysticks so I know what ambidextrous design theories like just by looking at it. And I understand the financial motive of why arcades would want a left-handed joystick only. I suspected it and Fact Hunt's Guru Larry independently also found that so.

By the way GameStop is itching to sell ambidextrous fight sticks because they said that's the only way they could sell fight sticks beyond day one of a vanity release stick. Too many people are requesting right-handed and or ambidextrous joysticks and the market isn't providing.

I'm thinking as an American company you're not influenced by whatever thinking is seems to be groupthink within Japan. If you're just following the lead of the Japanese companies then you're missing out on anywhere from 10 to 90% of the audience who would prefer right-handed sticks on enough games, maybe not everything but enough. I expound on my website that based on what I know and filling in the gaps with what seems reasonable I concluded (with tongue in cheek in about 30% of the ideas) that there is a 4J Conspiracy. The Japanese Jingoistic Joystick Jihad.

Tell you what maybe you should call the headquarters of GameStop and say A little birdie told me that GameStop would like to sell ambidextrous fight sticks, but they had troubles getting it licensed to consoles. And that same little birdie said Xbox is the only video game system maker that could make it a reality, because Xbox and GameStop share the same thinking on this issue, which is opposite what Nintendo and Sony think. I don't know who makes flight stick specifically for Xbox I think there was one company. Since they don't make fight sticks for PlayStation or Nintendo maybe you should talk to this company and say you don't deal with Nintendo or Sony anyway and we want this as a system. I think it was Razer Atrax. Those two words seem to be popping in my head when I think of that, but I may be wrong.
