Fifa 19 bought on wrong account

Hello! I have accidentally purchased Fifa 19 on my Microsoft account, not realising that I should have put money on my son's account and let him purchase it from his Microsoft account, as we did for Fifa 18 last year. I have just spent £59 and he
has no way of playing it. As we haven't downloaded the software yet (in fact, I can't!) can I transfer it as a gift purchase to his account please? Very grateful for any advice!

Hi, no you cannot transfer the game to his account or as a gift. You can however log in on his console and make the console the home xbox, this will then let your son play FIFA 19 without the need to log you in. He will be able to download the game from
the ready to install at no cost to him and play it.

There is no way to transfer a purchased game from one account to the other, but you can share the games that you buy if you have both accounts on the same Xbox. With the account that bought the game, you would need to designate the Xbox at home as the

Home Console and that will allow your son's account to play the game on the same Xbox.

You can request a refund
here or you can get in contact with
Xbox Customer Support to request a refund. From that point you can buy the game as a gift to your son using the

Xbox Gifting feature to send a redeemable code to his account.

Thanks for your help - I can't quite believe that as we haven't downloaded it yet that this is such a problem. My son is also worried, as x-box live is linked to his account. I guess he'll still be able to use it?

That's really helpful, thank you so much! I've just requested a refund - that will teach me not to do this while trying to do a million other things at the same time. Only realised after I clicked 'buy' that all I needed to do was to temporarily enable
purchases on my son's account and let him buy it, as we did last year - d'oh!

Thank you - hoping the refund will come through - selected 'clicked too soon' which was essentially what I did without thinking.

 

If you bought the game for yourself, you can not transfer the game as a gift to someone else. It is not possible, you can either share accounts. Or, if you have not already done so, refund the game and then buy it again as a gift.

Just to let you know refund was approved by the following morning and game repurchased properly through my son's account. I really appreciated your help and for providing the link to the refund request - I hadn't come across that readily on the Microsoft
site, so many thanks. Son now happily playing Fifa!
