    Ffffffffing updates!!! Argghhhh!

Choose a good ISP provider and plan. I'm with Vodafone NZ and get 100mb/s download and 10mb/s upload unlimited monthly data, which is great for sharing YouTube videos without having to wait hours for it to upload. ADSL Broadband only averages 7-18mb/s download
speed and barely copes with 1mb/s upload speed.

Regarding Updates, it's a problem overall with 21st century technology. AMD, Microsoft, AVG, Samsung, Apple, Sony. You can't escape Updates. And certainly! not everyone leaves their console ON on Instant Mode 24/7/365. Microsoft are notorious for providing
LOTS of updates. But they do have over 300,000 servers for Xbox Live, which is without a doubt more servers than what Sony's PSN has. Microsoft was making a BIG DEAL around Xbox 1's Launch about that 300,000 server number entire world's computing power in
1999. It's why Xbox 360 Minecraft multiplayer is laggy as hell, but Minecraft Xbox 1 multiplayer is butter smooth. Microsoft only portions 15,000 servers worldwide for Xbox 360. The Verification Process is DEFINETELY done for Security Purposes. While not all
of that 300,000 figure may be physical servers (only virtual servers), virtual servers still do an ok job. For instance they can stick a few virtual servers in New Zealand, and that would be still way better than having to connect to a physical server on the
other side of the planet! Microsoft forked out millions on building 2 data centres in Australia, to make it easier for Australia and NZ who are practically on the other side of the world from the US/UK, to make it better to connect to Xbox Live. I wish they
would [beep] off the updates too.

So many varying factors are involved. Your ISP. Where you live. The Servers. And the Internet Infrastructure, which is quite abysmal for 2017. The Internet Infrastructure can barely cope with 4k and 1080p content. Users even with good ISP speeds the servers
are only downloading to them at like 1mb/25 seconds. Yet when you do a speed check on your laptop, it's performing as your ISP quotes. So The Servers and the Internet Infrastructure are the culprits.

If you're fed up with Updates, post on their official feedback site her:

Or you can file a formal complaint to Microsoft. Customers can do this when they're not happy with the service. And customers have the legit right, to file a formal complaint, if their reasons for doing so, are reasonable.

Ever thought about setting your console into "instant one" mode?

It basically downloads updates when the console is switched off (it cant get every update, but about 90% of them) so when you switch your console on, the games and more importantly the system itself is up to date.

Instant Mode is useless when the average person doesn't leave their console on at the wall, 24/7/365/all the time. My parents taught me to turn off my electrical thingy's after use. This method is more eco friendly and saves power. Yes Instant Mode puts
it into a low power state, but IT'S STILL USING POWER. Ok some peeps may say that is very minimal power usage. But think of the power usage if 12 million people did that. Multiply that 'low power usage' by 12 million, and the result is that amount of power,
    is not energy efficient.

Another annoying thing about Updates is that especially system updates, requires your system to Restart, which means waiting..... for the slow 5400rpm HDD inside your console to boot up your console. Customers purely have the infinity right to be pissed
off with Updates. They waste our time and energy. What's the point of updating something when it will want another update a week or month later?

Microsoft must be sitting down having a lol at us while they deliberately program their servers, to download the updates to us, as slow as possible, without arousing any suspicions? But then again Microsoft is a good company. 21st century technology isn't
perfect. So it, unfortunately, needs updates.

Microsoft is a good company. The put a lot of effort into the servers and data centres they build and operate. In more recent years, they built two data centres in Australia to make it easier for New Zealand and Australians to connect to the US and UK who
are on the other side of the world! And a data centre costs dozens of millions of dollars to build. Security, fire suppression system which seals the doors and sucks up all the oxygen in the server room, in the event of a fire, and server computer equipment,
back up power supply. Microsoft spends a fortune on their servers.

Updates are a pain. You get home from school or work, turn on your console, EXCUSE ME, I want to waste your time, first we need to wait for the internet infrastructure and servers, to download. But first, we need to Verify the Update, after it's downloaded,
we need to reboot your console and rebooting a console with a 5400RPM HDD is super slow. If Xbox 1 had an SSD, It could boot the console in 10-15 seconds. And then after the reboot, we need to wait for the files to Install, ARE YOU KIDDIN' ME!

When Windows 10 does this on my laptop, I say screw this. When Windows 10 says not to turn off your PC, I FORCE SHUTDOWN my PC. It's not healthy to for your machine. But manufacturers like HP add this feature especially when Windows 10 stops responding.
Sure when you force shutdown your PC during a Windows Update, it is not healthy, but it does not mean the death of your PC. Microsoft has back ups and system restore or brings up a screen "update failed" or something or it automatically undo's the update.

Everyone deals with Updates differently. It's human nature. We deal with updates in our own way. Treat others the way you want to be treated. You mess with me, I mess with you. If an Update mucks around, I'll be doing a Force Shutdown. Don't worry. Microsoft
will have back up mechanisms if and when your throw your tantrum and do a Force Shutdown. It's not healthy for your system, but when you do turn it back on, the software will fix any problems caused by the force shutdown. When we've had a long day or just
want to have pure fun or down time on our console, the last thing we want is an update or to have to reboot our console and wait for the verifying and installation processes to finish.

    Ffffffffing updates!!! Argghhhh!

It's a very good idea manufacturers let your Force Shutdown a device. This can be done by cutting power to the device (remove battery, or turn of power at the wall). It's a fail-safe option especially when the software stops responding. And believe me, any
Microsoft software is prone to "Not Responding", especially blue screens on Windows. Windows 10 I've been stuck on this screen for the past 30 minutes. The software is at fault, because it quoted will restart your system shortly, it is not responding. Force
Shutdown is the answer. When you reboot the device again, the software/OS has safety backups and will repair any damage caused by the Force Shutdown.

Microsoft have provided a system that minimises the updating process, you choose not to use it.

Unfortunately gaming these days HAVE to have updates, we cant get around it. Games are far more advanced than back on the PS2 days, plus anyone that says games back then weren't broken and didn't need updates is just lying. One of the Colin McRae games
would crash if you used a certain car and a certain driver, it was that bad Codemasters had to get games re-pressed and sent out to customers.
