    Fellow "Avoid me" Prisoners

Has anyone else had their "reputation" continuously downgraded no matter what? I've been stuck on 'needs work' for about 6 months and now I'm finally on 'avoid', and completely unable to play Overwatch. However I have routinely tried to have good behavior
since figuring out last winter just how broken and annoying the rep system is, after stringing together 2 communications bans and then a 2 week social+gaming ban altogether. Good behavior means sending no messages other than "nice game" (which I do to multiple
people every game in an effort to keep rep raised), and keeping my mic muted during games and just trying to listen to others.

First of all, please Moderators/Ambassadors don't lock or delete this thread. Also don't link me to elsewhere on xbox.com that has similarly hollow answers as your forums. It's a Discussion thread you see. Why are there even Xbox "forums" if people at Xbox
Live are determined to make them useless? Simply because you don't want to read all the colorful expletives people on the Internet can think up about your abysmal services?

Now, does anyone know if blocking/reporting other players yourself negatively affects your own reputation? I end up blocking and/or reporting someone almost every other game now in competitive Overwatch. If they're incredibly toxic in the voice chat, I block
them. I frequently see people I've previously blocked in my games, however, both on my team and the enemy team. So, in the first place, blocking doesn't work great to keep people who don't like each other apart. I report and block people when they are absurdly
mean in chat to the whole team, or if they grief hard for the loss. By now, I have a good handful of people I've blocked/reported. Has this continued to drive my rep down over time, by reporting people myself?

Also, the rep system is, at this point, truly broken because people actively abuse it with groups. During one Overwatch match a few months ago I'm just playing my role, trying my best on an unfamiliar character. The saltiest member of a group of three who
had been complaining all match says "Let's report this guy for griefing he sucks. It only takes a few reports hopefully he gets banned," intimating he has some experience with the ridiculous rep system. I then finally come off mute to ask why he would do that
for him to flame me for 90 seconds and then they all go back to party chat. Now I really don't know what to do at this point. I eventually block/report all of them as a preemptive measure. I figured with my 'needs work' status these people reporting me would
surely have me multiplayer banned for a few weeks again, and that a report and against the person who reported me was the only way to save me from the Enforcebot 4000 that you guys have running the "appeal" process.

I've heard a similar sentiment a few times since then. People don't think I'm in the voice chat so they say to their one or two friends, "Report this guy, he f*****g sucks, he's on 'needs work' so he'll get banned" and now I have the resentful habit of filing conflicting reports
on those people. This is the XBL reputation system now. People who have previously been screwed by the reporting system and know it's flawed continuing to report others. IT IT NOT WORKING ANYMORE. A bunch of salty gamers breeding more salt and bad feelings.

But hey at least a bunch of Xbox Live Gold time is being sold!

    :)

  5. Won't do you any good as the corporate world fully owns politicians, judges, etc and thus unlike the Clintons. Can legally have the word. "Is" redefined.

The powers that be wanted you out, you wouldn't of your own co-operate, so they helped you out by using the "system" to FORCE you out. So why even try to get "justice" or even your REP back from an anti social system which seeks to LORD over you?

Do you actually know anything about the rep system or are you just here for **** purposes? Specifically if reporting people lowers your own rep. No one has to tell me to get a PC either, the fact that Xbox Live is a crap system and Xbox should go out of
business is a foregone conclusion, I'm getting a real machine soon. Just need to know if fixing REP is a huge waste of time or even doable until then, or do I have to give them more money for a new account. Yeah you're hilarious and all dude but I'm the first
    one who's ever thought so.

I'm fortunate I don't play Forza 6 multiplayer Tag Virus everyday, or play Forza Horizon 3 with my childish get a hype passion for occasionally ramming other people. Otherwise some older grumps would have thrown the report button
and I'd not be sitting on Good Rep possibly. But due to my schedule this year, instead of playing Minecraft or Forza or other fun games, I tend to just crash on YouTube and Netflix more, or play The Sims 4 or Planet Coaster, on my computer. I've kind of got
sick of playing Minecraft all the time.

I think age is definitely a contributing factor. The younger you are, the less mature you're likely to be. I got marked down on Xbox 360 for

    (1) Unsporting, implying not sticking strictly to the game rules, eg. you like to have some fun and t-bag after you're first kill, or drive on the wrong side of the road

    (2) Quitting Early. I've done it several times in Halo Reach, Halo 4, and COD BO2.

I think A LOT of people get marked down on these two areas as well. The most common area is Language. Swearing or retaliating or "defending". If someone does this to you, and you do it to them back..... you're JUST as bad, as them!

It is not the Reputation System, that is at flaw. But it's Human Nature, that is. And judging by 99% of the randoms who come on here and blurt out Why I got banned without analyzing possible contributing factors. Let's compare the Reputation System and playground
playlists in Forza such as Tag Virus. You get a bunch of happy people ramming each other. Until this grump (or a few grumps) decide to join, then file a complaint for ramming. Well, why did they join? Because this is the kind of behavior to expect.

So while the Reputation System is not fool proof, it has a good solid starting-off, foundation.

Purposely ramming other people in a racing game is a legit reason for your rep to drop & i'd report & block you in a heartbeat if you did that to me online.

It's the main reason I don't race with randoms in Forza or F1 now unless there's a no collision mode.

Reporting someone has no impact on your rep but filing lots of false reports can lead to enforcement action against you.

If you block someone that does not affect your rep either.Blocking someone does not 100% guarantee you will not bump into that person again,it only lessens the chances.

If you're a stick and grump, and decide to play in playlists which revolve around certain age groups and immature behavior or PVP, such as Forza playground playlists, or Minecraft; and then decide to report the behavior which is encouraged by the game developer,
and decide to report, then that person or few grumps, would be the odd one(s), just my opinion. When such a person(s) then report, that is a grey area. It was the reporter's fault for playing in a playlist which they knew, wasn't really suited for them. Those
still in that playlist then decide to report them, because the will have most likely "quit early" or didn't show good sportsmanship (having a sense of humour and playing towards the spirit of said playlist supported by the game developer).

    https://enforcement.xbox.com/en-NZ

According to the official enforcement site:

    Compassion
The policy is our guide. We must do what is right, not always just what is written. Context matters.

Although they invested on building a new Rep System different to Xbox 360's Rep System, Microsoft uses their policy as a guide. The REP system is not 100% perfect. It will never be. Just like technology. Technology will never always be 100%. It's made by
humans. Humans are not perfect. They should evaluate depending on the circumstances.

Just because 2 or 3 grumps, join a playlist made by a game developer, such as Minecraft, or Forza playground playlists like soccer or Tag Virus, most of the players play according to the spirit of the game. That may involve common behaviors such as ****,
ramming, teens playing music in the background, baby crying in background, or dog barking in the background, someone using a Kinect for voice chat, or a bunch of people ramming cars randomly in a playlist designed around ramming, which Tag Virus most definetly
is! Said grumps decide to report say a 12 year old girl for ****, 6 year old for being childish, an 8 year old for rage quitting, or a 17 year old for playing Justin Bieber music or Gundnman Style or what have you. Such persons who go into playlists and report
for such reasons, could be put as anti-social. They go into playlists which their own behavior and proposed playlist are not match. And then they report for whatever dumb reason. It's their fault for going into that playlist. And then it's totally unfair for
those who had a good time playing in the playlist get lower rep. Which is why compassion is necessary. Depending on the circumstances.

I still have more good rep on Xbox 360 than I do bad. What I get marked down in, is quitting early and not sportsmanship (I like to have fun, even if that means driving on the wrong side of the road, or ****). My Xbox One rep is green. I notice there may
be one or two rep stages that are better than Good (green). I think one of them may be Legend which is a blue(?) marking, which hardly anyone probably gets. I don't get marked down for language though.

Congratulations! You have a perfect record!

    Yay me [claps hands rapidly]

Perfect record for playing Minecraft and Forza playground playlists. Perfect record for Playing COD and Halo and throwing the occasional t-bag and camping. Perfect record for Sometimes playing music through Kinect/mic while in multiplayer. I guess I should
go play some more Minecraft, COD, Halo and Forza. But I should be getting to sleep.

And if your REP isn't as good, there's always a chance. Your REP won't stay bright bold red forever if you try to keep your cool. Perhaps give good civilized mature acting like someone 5 years old than yourself, in games. Yea that should get you into the
green. It may not be fun, but afterwards, you can go back to yourself but perhaps try to keep in mind other players. It looks like Microsoft is really cracking down on language. So you should really tune down on that too. It may not be easy, but if you try,
you'll be back in green quicker.

Wait, they now sensor when you have a tea and a shopping bag here? o...k... then. There's also like this Australian/NZ term those of us tend to use sometimes. While it is not a swear word nor is it racist, they probably don't want words which have a band
    influence or something.

If the playlist encourages ramming into others then fine.

It's the idiots who purposely ram into you on a proper track race I have a problem with.

I am not a stick or a grump just because I would like to play a game properly without having to put up with juvenile idiots who think it's funny to spoil the game for everyone else.

Just because someone does not share your childish view of what's acceptable to do to other people in a game does not make them a stick or a grump.

Instead of quoting the ToU/CoC all the time why not actually read them & if you are having trouble understanding them then i'm sure there's an adult that can explain them to you.

The rep system has a wonderful and happy philosophy to it if we lived in a world where opportunism and spite don't exist- "Let the community police themselves." Yeah, I've been comm-banned legitimately before and it stopped my bad behavior. Around when Halo
5 came out I would occasionally send spicy messages and eventually I got comm-banned. That was perfectly fair, and made me realize that people might be legitimately offended and affected if I just say to them "you f**ing suck". Hooray, Xbox Live helped me
grow as a person there, mission accomplished by them. It was understandable and I didn't send any messages after that happened.

By now, people who file reports do it out of spite because they know the capability of the Rep system. The "foundation" does not exist anymore, and it was a pretty foolish foundation to begin with. The community has learned to exploit the reporting system
just to make things difficult for people they don't like. This has become a huge problem within the XB1 Overwatch community at least. The rep system for some people is destroyed by now and should be tuned down, or turned off altogether, or actually bring some
    humans in to moderate.

My most recent enforcement action was in January/February. It was 2 weeks of social/gaming ban for "Harassment/Abuse/Threats- Griefing" and a 48 hour communications ban for "Voice Communication". The comm ban for "voice" was interesting, I
had actually not said a word in an Overwatch voice channel for weeks, other than occasionally "good luck guys" at the end of a match. I figured the comm ban at least has to be overturned since I was hardly even in Voice chat, but no, it stuck. I'd love to
know what the actual appeal process consists of, as I am still convinced there is not a human anywhere in the process. Context is supposed to matter, right? Unless they record and save every second of voice communication across Xbox Live parties and games
to listen to later like they're the damn NSA, they don't really have any way of examining the context and saving the Rep system from exploitation when it comes to "Voice comm" reports. And apparently they don't, because I got a comm-ban specifically noted
to be for Voice Communication when I don't talk in in-game voice chat.

I've had multiple friends start having problems in the past 8-10 months with seemingly random enforcement actions, and they eventually choose to just make new accounts. The Reputation system has been subverted and abused.

I hate the idea that, in some Analytics department at Xbox Live, they can see a huge spike in reporting and enforcement actions in the last year that coincides with new Xbox Live Gold accounts being made under existing Console IDs
and IP addresses. They can still make a little money, so they have little incentive to fix it or even tune it. Well, I hope Xbox Live can hold on to every penny they can possibly get and its executives are happy doing it. This awful company, with their asinine
methods and services, will be going out of business in the years to come.
