Fees for gt change

I don't like how we have a 10$ fee to change gamertags I have been an Xbox player for over 10 years and I feel that with the cost of membership for gold and all the other stuff for games and microtransaction that we should be able to change our names as
many times we want for free or even cap it to 2 times a year or even once a year possibly dropp the pice to 2$ a change some people grow up and want to change there name or come up with something more witty my wife plays on psn and changes her psn name all
the time no fee there before anyone says I'm cheap no money is not an issue for me but for other it is

Get rid of $10 charge to change a Gamertag.

Just let us change our Gamertags for free, when we please, just like we can with Facebook names, Sure, xxBK201xx seemed cool in 2007, but that was long ago. We were, like, twelve. Ditch the fees and let us change our stupid GT to something a little less
stupid.Any suggestions maybe?

 

GT Change for Harassment

You should follow the steps here to get it changed:
support.xbox.com/.../change-xbox-live-gamertag

As your GamerTag does not break the rules in any way then you are not going to be forced to change it, and there is no way to request a change, so note that you will be charged for this change.

If at any point the same users are harassing you, use the built-in reporting features (Player Review, Avoid and Block Communications) to reduce the chance of encountering these people again.

http://xbox.uservoice.com, or cast a vote on an existing thread with the same idea. You can see how much traction it gets with the community and maybe see how Microsoft responds if the vote gets popular enough.

My guess is that they enacted a paywall to gamertag edits to prevent:

- Trolling with frequent name changes

- Name squatting (subsequently leading to reselling accounts)

- Abuse of (what was once previously free) forced name changes due to inappropriate gamertags.
