Feeling Ripped Off

I know it's not cheap getting a new console, however this has become ridiculous. I don't feel MS cares about the customers they have spent years getting. My biggest issue, may not seem like much; however with the amount I paid already, it is something
simple that MS has no excuse to not bundle with the console. That is the Stereo adapter. Many have bought headsets such as Turtle Beachs and Trittons, ect... all of which use the 2.5mm jack on the 360 controller. If MS felt the need to change the plug,
and knowing most people buying the One already has the 360, they should have included the adapter at no extra cost. This is a poor move and really has me feeling ***. Like I said, it may not be much, but it is enough. This is one of several reasons the
One is not leading this generation. I do hope they get their act together, as I know this is the single reason a number of my friends went with the PS4. MS should give them with the console.

I have an xbox 380 which has been used occasionally rather than every day say once every couple of weeks for an hour. Today it developed what appears to be one of the known xbox faults. No warning just happened, one minute ok next blank screen and no signal.

I haven't found the xbox help pages of much use, and the chat pointed out and suggested to me what I had already tried. So I am stuck with a machine whose warranty expired in December 26th which puts out no signal.

It seems like a colossal waste of money as we bought a variety of games and controllers for the beast and I am not sure if it is worth getting it fixed as the cost may be too prohibitive. Their is a diy kit available but will that fix the issue?? and I could
send it to the US but there would be a couple of month delay between send and return and a probable bill as well of an in determinant amount.

I bought the xbox because of the kinnect which seemed a significant leap forward in game control. I would not have bought the xbox if I had known about the poor build quality and the serious number of faults that occurred with the 360. I think it is criminal
that a corporation making so much money each second should think it is OK to have a machine out there with known faults and then if it is out of warrantee by four months wash their hands of the unsuspecting buyer. It reinforces my suspicions about microsoft
and the integrity of the corporation.

It also makes me very weary about buying microsoft products of any description. I know they have a monopoly but I think that from now on I will choose any alternate available and only use microsoft when forced to do so.

Prehaps you could take your xbox360s 250gb Kinect to a reputable xbox repair person/company within your region who is qualified in such repairs.This may reduce your costs and time waiting . Let your fingers do the walking and call around , I certainly would
do this before ripping into my xbox with a D-I-Y kit , although it may be your very last option available to you , before eventually realising that the expense may have been better spent towards a brand new xbox console of your choice or something completly
different , up to you . I understand you may be angry and frustrated with microsoft , but it wont help you get back into the game any faster and this is what we need to work on .. Have you tried absolutely everything ? If your xbox turns on and you get no
audio/video , you could try a higher quality HDMI cable and make sure your tv settings are correctly configured , or even trying the original composite cable(red/yellow/white) adjust settings accordingly , maybe trying a different TV .. even unplugging everything
etc , taking hard drive out , the list goes on as you probably already know .. I dont doubt you have scoured the Internet looking for a fix , hit all the xbox,com/support pages and done all you can , all avenues approached and your problem persists after all
possible fixes fail , it may be the xbox graveyard for your console . And the choice ultimately lays in your hands.If you could give a better discription of your operating system( I assumed a xb250gb with kinect) It may help us better to understand your problem
.. , and maybe the things you have attempted(optional) . I hope this reply can at least ease your pain a little and maybe give you another option to consider before giving up on it in a fit of gamers rage , I wouldnt be here if I hadnt experienced problems
myself , Its why I became an ambassador because of countless hours searching the Internet for an xbox quick fix , support pages and forums etc Its what lead me to try helping my fellow gamers in their darkest hours (usually in a dark gamers room somewhere)
so keep trying , dont give up just yet , you still have 2 lives left ..

I love the adapter with the controls right there at my fingertips.

If I want to use the same headphones and setup(3.5mm right into the controller) on my PS4, I need to go into a totally different menu just to change the volume, or change my setup completely and have cables plugging into two separate devices for an inline
amp to work.

I like it, but it should have been added like you said.

 

Apple did the same thing with I Phone 5 if i remember rightly, so if you had a dock it wouldn't work. Then sold a adapter at a stupid inflated cost. Obviously done to rake in even more cash for MS!

 

Yeah these adapters are pretty annoying and should just be in the box with the X1. But yeah MS are hardly the only company to do this but doesn't make it any better.

 

I could see if the headset were required to use the console but there not, a headset is a option. The adapter should come with the headset.

 

Well it sounds like official brands like the new Turtle Beach Atlas do in fact come with the adaptor, so that's good news.

 

yes the newer turtle beaches and polks came with the adapter HOWEVER i agree this is a shiesty move by MS...im still trying to grasp why they didnt just put the 3.5mm plug into the controller? Current audio cut outs from the adapter just shows that it wasnt
needed and is just another gimmick to over charge for another proprietary device.

 

I just wish the adapter worked correctly with my sons x12.

 

@JW........................ exactly..... I use my home surround system for gaming..... maybe MS should pay up for that to.... (rolling eyes, full of sarcasm)

 

I would have felt "ripped off" had I paid £100.00 for a headset.

 

I know that feeling, when it comes to Xbox, Over-priced Console, half a game for full price, paying for online.
