Feedback regarding the ease of Account Link in PSO2 New Genesis

I am a long time player of Phantasy Star and other SEGA titles, back to the Genesis, an Xbox gamer from the original, Windows user since 95, and Steam customer before it became the biggest digital game storefront on the net. I am appalled at the terrible implementation of the account link feature for the PSO2 New Genesis. That I need to essentially download the Windows clinet AND the Steam client, having both on my computer at the same time, is asinine. There is no other way to do it however, as the codes expire before I can uninstall one and redownload the other. I don't normally have the room for TWO versions of a nearly 100gb game.

There has to be a more elegant solution. I have linked D&D Beyond to Twitch by logging in on Twitch through the Wizards site and granting it access to my Twitch account to verify my identity. I have done similar with Twitch and Runescape. And I can't count how many places I've signed in with Google instead of even making an account on their website or app. There are ways to one-time authenticate two accounts are owned by the same person.

I don't know if it's SEGA's fault for not implementing a login system similar to SEGA ID in the JP version like FFXIV and WoW use, allowing their users to log in on any console the game runs on. It might be Steam's or Microsoft's fault for not reaching out to the other to let users link these accounts through a method similar to the above. Whoever it is, it needs to be fixed. I've sent a copy of this complaint to SEGA and Steam, mentioning to each the other two being sent a copy. Between the three of you, someone should be able to find me an answer, and if y'all are too lazy to at least explain why you need an archaic 12-digit code to link two accounts that you can't obtain or enter unless you have the FULL GAME CLIENT installed on your system for BOTH VERSIONS, then I'm not sure how you guys get anything accomplished.

PS: I was referred to this Reddit by a Microsoft Expert. If I am in the wrong place, please do not think I am ignorant or trolling. I legitimately waited for a Microsoft support rep to tell me where to post this so it gets seen by the right people.
