    Feedback - Change to MS Rewards for GamePass


    I just want to provide feedback from my experience with the newest changes to MS Rewards, specifically those for GamePass since the beginning of 2024.

    The new 1000-Point monthly reward for 45 daily quests (and 8 weekly quests) is incentivizing me to STOP playing GamePass games as soon as I have one achievement. Let me explain. The only daily quests are either "play a GamePass game" or "gain an achievement in a GamePass game." Formerly, the top monthly reward was 22 daily quests. So, if you play every day, this wasn't an issue and you needed to really focus on the weekly quests each week when they came out. (The weekly 250-point quest was fun because it was a one day per week change to the routine, at least for me.)

    At 45, this means you are usually needing 15 achievements on top of playing every day in a month to complete this monthly quest. This has forced me to look at each game I'm playing and judge whether I should continue or stop based on whether I have an upcoming achievement, since I don't want to "waste" the second achievement in a night because I could have used that the next day. (As an example, I love Jusant, but I was forced to stop playing it recently because I had three achievements that were close, so I played it for 5 or so minutes yesterday, got the achievement and changed to a non-GamePass game. Today, I'll be doing the same. This makes me sad!).

    This is not fun. It is not incentivizing me to play, but to hoard/farm/plan achievements. I don't think I'm alone in this.

    In my humble opinion, achievements should not have ANY connection to MS Rewards. They should be fun to get, not a currency to budget. Before coming to give this feedback, I was on a website researching achievements in GP games for the upcoming days. Why am I doing this?

    The reduction in the points for achievements from 50 to 5 didn't bother me, because it didn't have any real effect on how I play. But this new format has made achievements a commodity, and that is counterproductive.

    Please reconsider this portion of the design. Let achievements be their own reward. Let something else be a daily quest, like a 30-60 minute timer in a GamePass game, or some such. Give us a reason to play!

    And the Insider programme have been telling MS how terrible it is for months and yet they still went ahead. The reddit link you posted is also slating the update, as is every other xbox forum. The MS line is that this came from positive community feedback and not because MS execs told the devs they had to force Gamepass into everything even though all community feedback has been negative.

    If games from the gamepass act weird and buggy, you can download from the MS on PC instead. Gamepass is still in beta, and will act weird at times. It would be good if you reported any issues too, which can be done by the feedback link in your profile

    I'm in the same boat and would love to have a Family Ultimate Gamepass that could be shared over 3 (or 4)

    Xboxes in the same house.

    unfortunately only 1 Xbox can be set as Home for a profile so it's best to set the Xbox that is most used as Home and have Ultimate Gamepass on the profiles that use the other 2 consoles.

    if you do have to cancel 1 of the subscriptions, the profile that has UGP can sign in on 1 of the non-Home consoles then Switch User to allow both your boys to play at the same time (but then you wouldn't be able to play at the same time as them).

    I recommend getting the MS Rewards app and doing the Gamepass quests to save up enough MS Reward Points to exchange for Live Gold, Gamepass or Ultimate Gamepass subscriptions.

    you can donate 1000 points per month to another family member which means if all 3 of you do as many quests as possible, you should be able to keep at least 1 subscription going just from MS Rewards and save £15 per month.
